I recently picked up a new (to me) helmet, but I want to make it high(er) visibility for MOAR SAFE on the road. I've got some retroreflective tape that will work perfectly, but I don't just want boring stripes. Vote on your favorite design! Chevron: Dazzle camouflage: Honeycomb: Houndstooth: Lattice: Stack: (blatantly copied from Icon's Airmada helmet)
All of those patterns are basically a form of camoflauge as they effectively break up the shape of your head. If you are going to do hi-viz do it as solid as possible so there is little to breakup the shape. (Note: Zebra Stripes are camoflague.) ..Tom
Exactly where I got the idea for dazzle camo. I'm not too worried about "breaking up" the shape of my helmet, as white and fluorescent yellow/lime are both high visibility colors during the day, and I expect no one is just looking out for a flying helmet... they'll see the rest of the bike first. For me, it's all part of the tactic of attracting as much visual attention as possible on the bike. I don't subscribe to the "loud pipes" argument, as it's hard to tell where they're coming from, but if you can draw the eye you're less likely to have motorists do something stupid in front of you. Overly bright or oddly-spaced driving lights can confuse or disorient drivers, but I run yellow fog lights in my car for exactly that reason; and plan to add some to the bike as well.
