Re: Toby water crossing... He laughed about it on FB asking if everyone had seen it... He obviously enjoyed watching it [emoji2] We're watching an alien of the not too distant future...he's slowing down at key points of his road book to make sure no mistakes and he still strolls in 2nd... ! Go Toby...
The car was built there, it leaves Oz every twelve months or so to be shipped to Sth America for the DAKAR... likely easier than trying to get i registered in Oz, by bringing in under carnet, an on the occassions it rallies in Australia run it on an import/temporary visa permit.
They are huge crashes:eek1:eek1:eek1:eek1:eek1, I wonder what the jump is listed as on the route sheet, there'd be some pretty pissed drivers if it wasn't a caution on the map
Toby in 5th today, 1.49 behind the winner Goncalves, and 5th overall. Coma in 2nd around 6 mins in front of berreda.
I've just watched the TP water crossing with my 6 year old daughter; her summation: "it's just that he was going so fast that he sort of just hovered over the water and kept going. Gee those people on the other side were standing a bit close weren't they? Don't they know how to be safe?" So there you go, an unbiased and perhaps technically correct analysis of why TP didn't slip over on the glassy concrete crossing! AND a commentary on WHS for the spectators to boot!
1.49 behind and 5th, that's some tight racing. I'm happy Barreda had a a broken handle bar and had to drop off the pace. His I'll let Coma pass and just follow him attitude for the last couple of stages annoyed me
Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Toby is 4th on stage. I'm sure I saw that Walkner was 16 mins slower than the leaders through an earlier check point, and then he was fastest through the next. So I think Walkner (who finished third today) may get a penilty. Doesn't chainged anything though because it is a mass start tomorrow.
Would the limiting of the bikes to 450cc play into the likes of Coma's hands when it comes to fitness and stamina, these sorts of guys could ride the 990's and 690's all day long that were bigger and heavier and are now going apeshit on 450's and it is like a ride in the park for him ,he looks like he has just ridden around the block after 800km's in the saddle. I know he is obviously supremely fit, but so are a lot of the other blokes and it is flogging some of them,.
It look like TP is 4th on today's stage and 4th outright. Awesome effort so far. Berreda lost a heap of time and Coma in P1 outright, 15.56 in front of Toby. All the best to the end of the rally.
Let's not jinx him..... but my thoughts.. Toby is up to 4th. He's only 15mins behind Coma now. If he keeps the motor in tact and Coma has to change motors.... am I dreaming?
All over red rover for Barreda TP must have some super riding ability if his nav isn't the best to keep finishing top 5 Wonder if another team will try to pick him up for next year
Ok without me trying to read 50 pages in the main thread, can someone tell me what happened to Bam Bam or his bike ?
He stacked it yesterday and broke his handle bar, lost 6 minutes. Bad nav or something today has him 90minutes+ off the pace,
Oh there is in down there, i knew about his bars yesterday but I couldn't find find him in today's stage, has he been that far back all stage or could something have happened in that section he's 90 back Edit, just read dakar.com I see he's been towed at some stage today and lost time early, his race might be over
