Gaa, I need to say off the watch sites. Thought maybe a SBDC003 Sumo might be nice, but it's got the same movement and same price as the Alpinist......but not as nice: Course, the next step up is the SBDX001 Marine Master - which is a HUGE jump in price...but damnit, it's 1/3rd the price of a Rolex Sub and a serious diver. OTOH, it's got a one-piece case, which means getting to the mechanism means going thru the glass - which they do by extracting the stem and pressurizing the case until the crystal pops off. Sigh. I don't know about that - hopefully the only time it comes out is when it gets a full service and has to come out anyway, right? Of course, then there's the damned SBGE001 - the GMT Spring Drive Grand Seiko. now IT costs the same roughtly as the Sub. Sigh. One guy posts that in between DST changeovers his runs almost a second fast...seriously. One of the problems with the internet, living in the sticks, I never even knew stuff like this existed! At least it never made it to our town. Clearly I am good and deeply screwed.
Here's a few I have pictures of A French compressor, a Russian chrono, a German quartz and a Chinese diver heh I'm looking for something new right now I have a few ideas but not having much luck finding em
It's an homage to the JLC Polaris made by Landeron The Polaris is such a cool watch but a little out of my price range Bonus pic-
Now I know these strictly aren't cool watches ANYMORE but picked up the latest additions to my cufflink collection today.... Had a choice between a Bulova pair and these.... * * Not matching movements (and kinda happy with that too) but am very pleased
44mm excluding the crown. looking at 48mm with the crown, but the Lum-Tec's look bigger than they wear. Great looking watches, the Tungsten Carbide is a sweet case material, looks like black chrome and tough as nails. (just don't drop it.)
Yep, 44mm excluding crown. About the same size as my Panerai and wears similarly. The finish on the Tungsten is very shiny. Apparently Tungsten is harder than SS but not as flexible so with enough force it could shatter/break. Here is another shot showing some of the reflection:
The lume is very good. From the LUM-TEC website: Every LÜM-TEC watch features our exclusive MDV Technology™. This is a special 8 layer application of ultra bright glowing Super-Luminova photo-luminescent material. The lume is supposed to last hours, but I haven't done a test so don't know how long and of course there are variables to how strong a charge it gets, ambient light, and so forth. Don't believe it would last as long as tritium tubes.
I (charged my) M23 under a light source for 10 min and the LUM was electric for a good solid 3 hours, then faded , but still able to read in the dark 4 hours later.
That is about like a few Invictas I have with what THEY call Super Luminova. I don't mind it fading a little during the night because when it has been dark a while your eyes get so acclimated you can easily see the lume even after many more then 3 hours. I will say that one day I will own a Ball watch that has that super bright never fading Tritium in it,
