I'm looking for opinions on whether or not this R1200GS is a good deal or not. 2013 model with 300 miles on it, sold as new by my local dealer as it had to have a factory motor defect repaired. It's a "base model" without the ESA or different rider modes. They're asking $15,250... I'm a little on the fence about it. Opinions?
That's $850 less than a new '14 base model with 0 miles. I would push for another $500-1000. '15 models coming out, the bike had warranty engine repairs. I'm sure the bike is fine, but there won't be a lot of people waiting in line to buy it for a $850 savings.
Me? I'd pay the extra and get a 15 model with my choice of options. spend the money, get what you want and only cry once.
Ditto, the features are worth the price of admission to get what you want vs a base model. FWIW, the ESA has been one the most liked features on mine. Spend big, no regrets, :) :) :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Now THAT sounds like a decent deal. I'm sure you'll be just as happy with that one with a good deal less money spent.
... and I won't get all pissed off when I scratch it since it will already have a few dings and dents on it.
Be sure to check back with us in a few thousand miles to tell us how much you like it (should be just a week or two :) :) :) ) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Picked up the bike a few days ago, but just got around to riding it due to work and rain getting in the way. This is my first BMW and I was a little surprised at how far the clutch lever has to be let out before the clutch engages. I think it may need a tune up as it runs a little rough idling. I think it sat for a while before it was sold. Other than that, I like how it rides and performs. Defnitely an upgrade from my Suzuki TU250X. :eek1
May also have some old gas in it if its been sitting for a while. As def would say: "Smell it" and if it doesn't smell right get rid of it and put fresh gas in, some Techron wouldn't hurt either.
