Of course it was covered. http://www.cyclenutz.com/Mini-Handlebar-Headlight-Switch_p_210.html He did remove the lines on the rocker to make it appear more similar to the OEM switches.
You that scene from "Close Encounters" where Richard Dreyfuss is sitting in his work truck, and he tries to wave the 2nd "car" by.....
Waterproof? I don't think so, I opened it once but wasn't too concernerned for what I use it for. from here: http://www.cyclenutz.com/Switches_c_55.html Mini Handlebar Headlight Switch 20mm width Fits 7/8" handlebars Yamaha OEM Equivalent 5NG-83976-50 Originally for 02-03 WR 250/426/450 Includes 3 prong H4 bulb plug Can be modified and used universally as an On-Off switch for headlight or accessory lighting 2 Wires 16.5", 3 Wires 27.5"
It doesn't really need to be waterproof, so long as the contacts are covered in dialectric grease, and even then it probably wouldn't matter. Jim
I don't understand the fixation of seeing additional lights from front on. I want more lights not to be seen, but to see what is up ahead so I can react. Not having to rely on someone in a car etc. Beam shots should be down the road, before and after. Otherwise you might as well have christmas tree lights on to be seen.
Agree, however the reason why I put them on is for daytime awareness, simnply to increase presence from the front, not riding at night, I wanted the lights to be visually ok and not too large, the LED's fit that bill pretty nicely. Taking pictures at night, shooting the beam in the driving direction is more work, it's colder, requires a good camera...
Its giving me shit about downloading a pic!:huh JPG size is small enough! Anyway i have Piaa 525s on a PIAA light bar under the beak. I'll never ride without them again! Only problem is the covers blew off when I was haulin a$$!
try uploading the pic to http://www.tinypic.com for free image hosting. also, why censor yourself with "a$$" but say "shit" in the first line? your mom isn't moderating this forum: you can say ass.
Tallguy-09 how do your LEDs compare to Hella FF50 driving lamps as far as light trajectory is concerned? I haven't yet decided which of the 2 is best suited for day time and night time use.
I take it you didn't check the link in my original post, so here it is again: Auxiliary light installation and pictures of test on rural road
yeah, but they are OEM Code 3 lights--check out the printing on the clear cover. next time a cop tries to pull you over, you pull HIM over. still not spending $600 for them, but i am considering the $100 for that switch.
Does anyone know how much extra currant the standard 1200gs alternator can provide. For example two 55watt lights will use around 7.8 amps. The alternator can only supply about 42 amps, so 7.8 amps seems like a lot of extra load. Its 18.5% of the alternators capacity. Do any of you guys with six or so extra lights have any trouble?? Chris
Hey harris you seem kick ass at math how much % load is two piaa cross countrys and two 510s? Just kidding ive been wondering about how much load im putting on mine with 4 lights a gps and three acc plugs possibly being used.. if your bored...
The 2008 and newer have 720 watt alternators, that is 60 amps. You use less than 300 watts with factory lights and basic motor uses. That leaves 420 watts, or amps for accessories. You can run a LOT of crap on that. Even my 05 with a 600 watt alternator, and 200 watt wizzy brakes ran 4 55watt lights, as well as my heated gear with no problem. In other words, you have to try damn hard to use all of the available power. Jim
I may be wrong, but that is not how these are measured from my understanding. None the less, there is far more available power than most of us ever need. Jim
