Not sure if this was covered, but where did you get the handlebar switch, and is it waterproof?

It doesn't really need to be waterproof, so long as the contacts are covered in dialectric grease, and even then it probably wouldn't matter.

I don't understand the fixation of seeing additional lights from front on. I want more lights not to be seen, but to see what is up ahead so I can react. Not having to rely on someone in a car etc. Beam shots should be down the road, before and after. Otherwise you might as well have christmas tree lights on to be seen.:D

Agree, however the reason why I put them on is for daytime awareness, simnply to increase presence from the front, not riding at night, I wanted the lights to be visually ok and not too large, the LED's fit that bill pretty nicely.
Taking pictures at night, shooting the beam in the driving direction is more work, it's colder, requires a good camera...

Tallguy-09 how do your LEDs compare to Hella FF50 driving lamps as far as light trajectory is concerned? I haven't yet decided which of the 2 is best suited for day time and night time use.

yeah, but they are OEM Code 3 lights--check out the printing on the clear cover. next time a cop tries to pull you over, you pull HIM over. still not spending $600 for them, but i am considering the $100 for that switch.

Does anyone know how much extra currant the standard 1200gs alternator can provide. For example two 55watt lights will use around 7.8 amps. The alternator can only supply about 42 amps, so 7.8 amps seems like a lot of extra load. Its 18.5% of the alternators capacity. Do any of you guys with six or so extra lights have any trouble??

The 2008 and newer have 720 watt alternators, that is 60 amps. You use less than 300 watts with factory lights and basic motor uses. That leaves 420 watts, or amps for accessories. You can run a LOT of crap on that.

Even my 05 with a 600 watt alternator, and 200 watt wizzy brakes ran 4 55watt lights, as well as my heated gear with no problem.

In other words, you have to try damn hard to use all of the available power.

Actually... since the charge rate on this bikes is ~ 14V while rewed @ 3500 RPM, 720/14=51.4A.

I may be wrong, but that is not how these are measured from my understanding. None the less, there is far more available power than most of us ever need.
