Did roughly the same loop backwards a few weeks ago before the rain Trev. Jaw dropping views, especially on Pine Hut Rd, 3 Chain Rd and up Pipeline Rd.

All going well hope to get up to Bluey's place at Stone Hut, and have a look around Wirrabara and Bangor area next week.

Post fire tourism seems a little grizzly I know, but to witness the devastation changes your outlook on a lot of things...

    How could a forest be:

"unstable and presenting a potential risk to public safety" :huh

seems like the Ents of Mordor relocated to the lower Flinders Ranges

Shot down to Keith on Friday to make some changes to a Centre Pivot and then onto Robe for a night at the pub, On the way home we shot out the back of Salt creek for a recce on the Messent Conservation Park. Looks like it could be a nice spot for a base camp and play area for an overnighter. There is a heap of dirt roads and tracks that meander along the Coorong and some other CP's in the area work a look, also found a track off the side of the highway from a rest area. It heads out towards the sand dunes. I stopped following it as we were a bit short on time... and water but it has potential.
Anyone played down this area in the past?

Hey Kev, the park did look like a sandy adventure but not too out of control. The Fire Access track on the southern side looks good (from my private Satellite). Can you ride the Northern Outlet Drain? (or the trail along side it)
The Martin Washpool CP and Bunbury Reserve looks great. Access?
Can you blast around in there without fear of screaming and wailing from grass munching, gluten free hippies? :huh
We had intended on having a look around the Keith - Cantara road but I didn't finish the job until 5pm on Friday night and we didn't want to take on too many Skippies and Rudolfs! (we were told to watch out for Deer from Petherick Road out to the Ports Highway).
The forest just out of Robe looks open for a play as well

p.s. the Beer at the Robe hotel was mighty frosty! :D

Tht's my era Sol, they had the most magnificent sound with the baffles (or whatever it was) removed. T'was the bike of choice (street version) amongst the early Elizabeth and Salisbury 'outlaws', along with the 750 Kawasakis. A K1 was eagerly sought after. Quick bikes in their day.

Got to admit, its a bloody nice looking machine..:ricky
If I still wasn't in the midst of building/establishing our new house, that Honda 750 would be in my garage next to the 690R.
I will be looking to buy a classic road bike probably next year.

Ha ha, he's working! But ItsGotToBeYellow and I headed out to Pt Gawler and whilst he dropped from the V Strom to the RMZ, I gave the 220 kg+ Tiger the flick and jumped on the WR250F.

Last time I was out there in anger on a bike was about 1975/6 I reckon. It was playing on my mind that I'd just walked out of the surgeon's office with him laughing about a hip replacement sometime this year and then I'm out mixing it in sand at Pt Gawler.....

Managed to get IGTBY on the gas....not a bad action photo either...
