So Claude: why not replace the ball by an axle?

Don't see why it can't be done if all lines up properly. All HAS to be on same plane! Tele lever angle would come into play. Never did it though.

We have done two now where we got rid of the tele lever all together and replaced it with a steering head. The steering head is aligned with the upper BMW pivot of course. We made an upper and lower conventional triple trees to hold the fork tubes. The fork tubes extend up to the BMW 'triple tree but all it is doing is providing a place to mount the bars and steer. This can also be done in such a way that the lower fork tubes are spaced apart to allow a wider tire to be run with plenty of clearance

From Claude<BR>"Notice the strut that replaces the shock is adjustable. I assume this allows the installer to line things up properly."<BR><BR><FONT color=#cdcdcd><FONT face=Verdana>Nope Claude, there is only one position for the L.L. (one angle possible for the legs), that is dictated by the attachment point on the upper three. The strut is here obviously to secure firmly the A-arm (telelever), but you cannot play with its length. The strut is adjustable only because it is sold, used also in the L.L. kit for other R bikes, R11XXR, RT, RS, that require different strut length.</FONT></FONT><BR><!-- / m=1

I posted the above on January 9th. Somebody must be following this thread -- Wolfi posted these pics in his blog yesterday!

By the time he and Skippy get to Ushuaia we should see how this works. My prediction is that if the A-arm fails again it will be at the other end! :evil

My guess is that re-enforcing the outer shell will just lead to the area closer to the balls seat to rip closer in. The mount area is still "rather thin".
    But, I've been wrong before.

If the tele lever ain't 'levering' any longer and is rigid it will be getting different forces acting through it. Kind of a 'given'.

I reasonably sure that this is simpler than it looks in the image I lifted from Freedoms Facebook page, it eliminates the telelever and adds the traditional steertube to a Telelever BMW.DB

This is a OEM R1150R telelever, different design than a R1150GS one, EZS do not provide a new A-arm (telelever), you use the stock one on your bike.
