The movie....HOW GREAT WAS THE REAL EVENT? I just stopped writing Brooks name in for President! That was still so awesome nothing in sports has compared.
Herb was the man (so I've read, also not alive for it ), and minnesota had some amazing teams back in those days. The final glory days of Michigan Tech with John MacInnes back then as well, last time in the frozen four was 81 and its been pretty abysmal since. Heres highlights from the Tech - UMD series <object height="315" width="560"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0BpDCiVnHoY?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="315" width="560"></object> <object height="315" width="560"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tTY--xbgkVU?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="315" width="560"></object>
Actually, speaking of Herb Brooks / John MacInnes, THE 1975 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hSnskKftCsY?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hSnskKftCsY?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> and the full game if you've got a spare two hours <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TLTYPYKVnEc?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TLTYPYKVnEc?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
This as good as it gets for regular season hockey. AHA #1 Rochester visits The United States Air Force Academy #3 this weekend. This league is tight at the top. 4 points seperate 6 teams. Go Falcons!! The Gold Pan Trophy goes to the team that wins this weekend between The College of Neduro and The College of The Fist. AKA CC vs. DU. The home team has won each game by one goal in the season series. If they split. DU keeps it and Prowler weeps. Go Tigers!!
five weeks to go! WCHA 3rd through 7th separated by 3 points. Tech is at Mankato this weekend, who has apparently been playing well lately. Tech split in houghton with mankato earlier in the year, 1-0 win and an ugly 6-3 loss I had to witness in person. Hopefully some of the momentum of last weekend will carry over, as every point is precious right now. but I just cant get past this feeling that this series.... <object height="315" width="560"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/piVnArp9ZE0?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="315" width="560"></object> Tech broke into the pairwise rankings this week, and has three series, UNO, UND, and CC with teams ranked higher in the pairwise (and WCHA current standings) Tech is also in a nice position against UND, as they have two games in hand, and a tough matchup for ND at UMD next weekend. UNO also has a tough path going forward, with series against Tech (WINTER CARNIVAL!) CC, Minnesota, and Denver. St. Cloud State is also short two games so hopefully they will not make too much noise. I feel when it is all said and done, as long as tech doesnt decide to crush my hopes and dreams, the WCHA finishes UM UMD CC DU MTU UND UNO SCSU BSU UW MSUM UAA hopefully! EDIT / UPDATE : 3-0 MSUM 1:43 left in 1st. fml EDIT / UPDATE : 3-3 tie 5:25 left in 2nd.
Nice results for the C. Springs teams this week. Air Force swept their way right back to the top of the AHA. 3-0 and 4-2 were the scores. Convincing wins against a good Rochester team. FALCONS!! CC Won in Denver 2-0 and they tied tonight at the Purple cross 2-2 CC wins the Gold Pan Trophy!!. It looks like it would have been a great game to see. Captain and Faceoff ace Nick Dineen left early with an upper body injury and Goalie Josh Thorimbert was hurt in the second period. I hope there's a youtube of Jayden Schwartz's goal tonight. The situation was 4on4 and he went almost coast to coast, stickhandling around and through 3 Pioneers and through Juho what's-his-name, willing the puck across the line and in. Attaboy Juice! Too bad they couldn't get a win for Joe Howe in goal. He hadn't played since mid Dec. Time to buy tickets.
That was from the friday game - 5-3 loss final Saturday I turned on the radio feed about halfway into the 2nd and it was 6-2 Tech and a penalty fest from there on out. Turns out all that scoring happened in the 1st :eek1 Ill take a split on the road, but it sure would be nice to play to our potential more often. Unfortunately, BSU only got a split out of UNO and SCSU swept at wisconsin, pulling them right back into the thick of things. Big series next weekend, UNO @ MTU, both sitting at 22pts <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UP1LAjzJEX8?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UP1LAjzJEX8?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QsIH_2eFtXs?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QsIH_2eFtXs?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
looks like the GLI will be a little more interesting than normal for christmas 2012 http://www.freep.com/article/201202...hl-reveals?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE sounds like it could be a cool event besides the involvement of that one team that wears the shitty blue and yellow jerseys
Big Ten Network Which is also the reason the Big Ten will have a hockey conference next year - internalizing television revenues.
Thanks. I'll raise the antenna mast another 10 feet and see what happens. NBC has the Boston College vs. Vermont game. Maybe Johnny Vermont will be in the stands.
yes, go gophers, go UMD, go Bemidjii, and most importantly Go TECH! go mankato just to make it a clean sweep for minnesota teams (never thought a yooper would ever want that, huh?)
Tough loss for CC tonight against the Beavers of Bimidji. Tigers led starting the 3rd and lost 4-2 with en empty netter. Its the first time this season the lost a lead in the 3rd. Now 7 starters are injured and some people that never dress will be in the lineup tomorrow. Air Force won 2-0 At Niagra. Denver has a 5-2 lead on MN.
Rau suspended for tonight's game after a late, high hit on Zucker yesterday. <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SaIgM-Guz_8?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SaIgM-Guz_8?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> In more timely news, Gophs up one on DU early in the 1st. Looks like the Saturday squad took the ice tonight.
