Another vote for the Triumph Chevron one piece suit. Out in the mountain west we have cold weather and rain. The Chevron works. No issues getting it on aand off, but maybe I am patient.
Love my prorain 2 , and it goes on over all my gear in a matter of seconds. 5'9 180 lbs 33" waist and a larger fits perfectly
Mine has been thoroughly tested in cool weather in the mountains and in hot sweaty SE USA and I stayed dry - except for the sweat when the sun came out in the SE. Regarding putting it off and on, a little dry run practice really helps. I fold it (not roll it up or was into a ball) so it'll come out in proper orientation for easy donning. It doesn't take much room in the bags, either. My other "waterproof" garments are waterproof for only a short time in anything more than a drizzle - then it's wet crotch. The Frogg Toggs flap in the wind, haven't lasted very long and I think they're ugly.
After a bunch of research here i went w/ the Pro Rain from one of BMW of Oklahoma's eBay auctions. A few days after delivery i got my 1st chance to use it. In 20 minutes of intown riding in a light drizzle, the left knee began leaking down the outside leg seam. In a few more minutes the crotch as leaking. Not happy. I sent the suit back to BMW-OK and paid a little extra for the upgrade to the Rain Lock (the 1-piece design did'nt really do it for me, leaks or no) Rain Lock arrives and i wear it twice w/ good results. The design features and details are superb, and i feel like i've gotten a quality piece of gear that will last a while. On the 3rd wearing the crotch leaks massively and the right shoulder seam weeps as well. Oh and splash one cell phone from being in one of the 'waterproof' chest pockets (with the sealed/gasketed zipper)-- those pockets prove adept at collecting a pint of water each and not letting it out. My phone did'nt stand a chance. Upon inspection, there are gross assembly and sewing mistakes in both pieces. The PVC material in the crotch was split in several places and not stitched properly in others. Ditto the premature splitting/deterioration on the jacket seams. The jacket in particular is a well-designed piece of trash. I'm keeping the pants b/c they can be modified/repaired i think. The design is strong and the cut/fit is quite good. However, that i must repair/modify a BMW garment after 3 uses guarantees i will not be purchasing a stitch of BMW-branded gear ever again. All the cool Euro-design in the world does not mean dick when the Chinese execution is grossly off the mark. This thread will likely sell a bunch of Pro Rain suits-- hope this helps
Yes. The Pro Rain was delivered at the end of Feb 2009, and as i say i used it w/in a few days of receiving it. It failed in rain so light that i could have had the liners in my normal jacket (Gericke Timbuktu) and pants and been fine. The pro Rain failed from get-go. The Rain Lock replacement arrived around the end of March 2009. 2 uses in 2 weeks (we had a rainy Spring here) and it was fine. Third wearing a week later and the crotch was a sieve. Naturally i eyeballed the thing to see where it leaked-- that's when i saw the splits in the crotch PVC. It was if i was looking at a 10-year old piece of gear-- the PVC was simply cracked/split on both leg junctions in the crotch. And some seams were just miss-sewn. I'll add that i was very careful in putting this gear on-- no jamming the legs into the pants and possibly ripping the material. This shit was lame and deteriorated from Go. The jacket's shoulder seams failed around the 4th or 5th wearing sometime this summer. The 'waterproof' chest pockets (w/ 'duck' zippers) failed from day one. Scratch one cell phone My experiences go counter to most folks here, that's why YMMV. I seem to be in the minority w/ FAILs on this gear, but it happened. OK-BMW was very cool abt replacing the Pro Rain-- i opted to upgrade to the Rain Lock b/c leaks or no i realized the 1-piece was'nt going to work down here in the humidity. OK-BMW was swift to send me the Rain Lock, so i have no beef w/ them whatsoever. An email got the replacement ball rolling and they did fine on service The bitch of the thing is that i'm back to square one on finding good rain gear. And no, w/ my track record w/ BMW gear i would never even consider upgrading still further $$ to their 2-piece Goretex suit. Nope. I'll bet it's good kit but i don't feel inclined to give them a 3rd strike chance. As i've said before, the design is superb, but the asian execution is cheap. No way i'm paying a premium for that crapshoot. Good luck all. If you go the BMW route i hope you get well-sewn stuff. My 2 tries were worthless
I had one .. tried it a hour around town in the rain and sweat my balls off in it...sold it....I looked pretty cool in in thought.... Gore-tex only for me
2 piece Gore-tex. Jacket / Pants with no fly! No wet nuts! I would like to find a one piece gore-tex also!
Anyone seen Triumph 1pc chevron suits recently? I cant seem to find many online. There's a cheap one on e-bay, but too small for me, I need an XL.
If visibility is part of your quest, I've got a Spidi Flux one piece, and it's definately brighter than the all black suits. http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Spidi_Tuta_Flux_OnePiece_Rain_Suit--640522.html
