I like how you trimmed the stock fender to keep the guard for the fork seals and mounted a high fender. Very nice.

I recently bought a 06 DL1000, rode up to Iron Horse Lodge for a quick two night trip. Just started getting it set up for me...

I love the winter shot with the studded TKCs ! lots of great pics here.

I bought my 06 DL1000 (aka - Vern) about a month ago. So far, we've only put about 1000 miles on, but I would say at least 1/2 or more of it has been dirt roads in the area - so maybe not many miles, but many many smiles! My wife and I are absolutely loving it! We bought it basically to "test" if we would like ADV sort of riding having done LOTS of sport/sport touring sort of riding in the past. I think we have found our new favorite type of riding together.:clap

Here is Vern - he came equipped as you see when we bought him - big ass bags! Of course we already have list of improvements to make.

Lots of riding of stuff like this: (we are lucky to have many miles of this sort of stuff literally starting at the end of our driveway)

And a couple of my best riding buddy for the past 32 years! :clap

Planned additions - footpeg lowering brackets for the wife, some TKCs, or may try some Big Blocks (low cost way to see how a much more aggressive tire works for us), skid plate, and a few other goodies.

Oh..one other change - note the nice Cee Bailey windsheild? It is to tall for me - need it to be around 2" shorter so I dont look through it. So..if anyone has a shorted one, and wants to trade for a tall - let me know!

The sidewinds are killing me, rest I'm fine with, not too tall.

Luckily I have a second std front mudguard, but the openness behind the forks towards the rads was a bit of a concern to me. So I cut the front part. Think mud will still get stuck inside the remainder, so must maybe look at lifting that setup for the mud to clear.

W.r.t the tyres, I love the TKC upfront, currently a Mitas E-07 on the rear, think I'm going Sahara 3 next, but only on the rear, looks like a nice tyre for DS riding.

Here's my new-to-me 2007. It's a little rough but I'm not too worried about it. Someone had to drop it first, might as well let the other guy take the value hit.

Just short of 3,000 miles, spread over 10 days "out west" - it was a great ride on the 650!

Rocky Mtns, Salt Flats, Highway 50, Sierras, Coast Range, the beach, blacktop, dirt & gravel. Seven western states. It was a great solo ride and the Wee handled it all very well.

I liked that orange color when it came out. What did suzuki call it exactly? Looks better than my fox orange.

When did you go? I almost wonder if we didn't pass you on US 50? White Strom, Blue Strom, Dark gray Honda NC700, around October 5 or so....?

I took the exact same shot of the USR 50 sign, too! :clap

Should post that one on Strom Trooper's current "Picture of the Week" game, the theme is autumn leaves; I think you may have a winner.

My trip was all wrapped up by October. I did bump into another Strom Trooper out on the Salt Flats.

Yeah, I liked that sign. Pretty cool. Grabbed a meal not long before photographing the sign. Good thing, because as I recall, there wasn't much after it for a long, long way!
