    I have NO Medical insurance.
OK, I'm a retard. I got caught being stupid. But I am debt free- I have some cash socked away, but not enough for a Cardio Catheterization or even more extensive process IF I STAY IN THE USA.

I have an enlarged heart, and low ejection fraction- a bad left ventricle...and need the tests and maybe stints.
From preliminary research, it looks like I can get these proceedures for 50% to 90% less in Mexico, at new clinics and hospitals.

I can speak some Spanish, but know no one who can refer me.
There are many Medical Tourism sites that deal with the hospitals, but no way to check the records or other statistics as far as i can tell.

Do any of you know of a good Cardiologist there? Heard of good or bad experiences?

From what my friends say, there are few GP doctors in Mexico- most are specialists and trained in Mexico, many in the US and Europe. Many good Cardiologists...

    Thanks.

Now I got to contact the Cardiologists user group...my bike is misfiring.:lol3

I don't have insurance either, along with 50 million other Americans. I've thought about what I would do if I had a pending, non-emergency health problem to deal with and decided that Mexico would be my solution, more specifically in Merida. The specialists in Merida are highly trained and experienced, without the huge cost we have in the U.S. I've asked many people in Mexico where to go for top notch medical care and Merida or Mexico City was the response.

I'll do some research and email my buddy in Merida for specific suggestions. Bueno suerte amigo

A colleague of mine just had double bypass and valve replacement here in Toluca. He's doing great and is very happy with his docs, I can ask him for a recommendation if you like.

Also, I used to live in Merida and had a cardiologist that I liked very much. I'll Iook to see if I still have his info somewhere.

An American retiree that I know started up a medical tourism business in Merida last year, here is a link to his website http://www.medicaltourismyucatan.com/

Lastly, my wife works with the Secretary of Health here in the State of Mexico, I will ask her to get a recommendation for you.

PM me if you have any specific questions. I've lived in Mexico for 11 years and have been to a lot of doctors, and my wife has worked with the health department all over the country.

I am in the process of getting a short, small camper (like a Toyota) and drive down. I may go by motorcycle-but my back is not what it used to be and if there was a convalescence period it may be better to be in an RV (or hotel).

It means much more to hear from someone who is familiar with a physician's record, or a testamonial, than just calling a hospital or clinic direct.

    Again, THANKS!
