That makes about 1,500 of us at least. Her man's a lucky guy. The play: Midsummer Night's Dream, Maybe?
The play was called "As You Like It" (AKO SA VÁM PÁČI) Synopsis (sure wish I had this before I went )
One of the bard's naughtier works. Right up your alley, 'stro! Too bad you didn't have that play by play....of the play... Okay, I'll stop now.
Day 16 Bratislava Slovakia to Vienna Austria Short riding day today. Vienna is the easternmost capital city of Western Europe so the trip was very quick. Goodbye Slovakia! Hello Austria! No more dragons (It was great to get my GPS back again ) I stopped on the way to Vienna to grab some lunch and ordered the wiener schnitzel to fully immerse my self in the culture. When they brought my meal out, they had stuck a little American flag in it. :huh I wasn't sure if I should be flattered or insulted. I am proud to be a US citizen but there is still that part of me that thinks I am Canadian and always will be. Whatever nationality they thought I was, it was very tasty :dg I had received an invitation from Flood (Remi) to come and visit him while I was in town and I gladly accepted. He is a historian with an incredible knowledge of Vienna and Europe in general. I headed into town to meet up with him at work and get the nickel tour. His library He took me up on the roof to get a birds eye view of the city. On the way there we may have accidentally happened across some archives from a local newspaper. The files marked "Motorcycle" more specifically and found some great old pictures. The roof. Floods Guzzi and the GS We snuck out of work early and went for a quick look around the town. That Guzzi sounded amazing echoing off the buildings walls Tourist mode. It was great to have another local guide to show me around again. Vienna is an amazing city and I feel bad for only having spent such a short amount of time there. Just another reason to go back ans see it again I suppose This is a statue erected during the Plague to protect the city's inhabitants against the disease. Most towns had one but the one in Vienna is the largest and most elabortate. It was getting late and we had a date with 2 incredibly hot Austrian figure skaters so we had to bring the sight seeing to a halt. First some fuel for the machines, then some for us.
For dinner Flood took me some where special. Doesn't look that special does it? That's what I thought too when he stopped the car in a residential neighbourhood and we walked up to this very nice but unassuming home. But Wait! There's More! When we walked around the side of the house to the back yard we found ourselves in this... I'm not sure of the exact details but there is some Austrian law that involves, wine, your home and food that is uncooked that ends up being these great little places behind peoples homes. After work in the summer, everyone goes to them to relax, eat, drink and smoke lots of cigarettes. I did all but smoke. The poison of choice this evening was a concoction made of white wine and strawberries. Damn good but instead of the typical hangover you could add a diabetic coma to the mix Flood with our two lovely dinner companions for the evening. (his gf is the one with the red hair) Austrian figure skaters! Eat your heart out Javarilla! Roast pork, tater salad, corn, etc. etc... :dg After a great dinner we headed out to take in the view of the city from the lawn of a hotel. Back at casa de Flood there was some fresh home made apple strudel waiting for us :dg (At this point I would have been asking for her hand in marriage ) Flood signed Shoganai's shirt and it was off to sleepy land for this little traveler. Thank you so much for your hospitality Remi! It was greatly appreciated and I can't wait to come back to spend more time in Vienna. (and with the figure skaters) (and I guess you too ) My home is your home if you're ever in the area.
Day 17 - Vienna to Prague Czech Republic Not a lot of commentary here... Thank doG for GPS (the map coverage wasn't great in CZ) there was a bunch of construction on the route and none of the detours were marked. An example... Czech Republic! Prague "Real" Budweiser.
Dave, it was great having you! At the very least it was a good excuse to leave work on one of the hottest day of the year, searching for a shady spot to park in the city and take a little walk Although I have to say I was a little disconcerted when you tried to pry your finger in my...cat. So I was kinda relieved when you finally left (do all those newfangled BMWs smoke that much or is that only when you miserably fail to wheelie?) However, your visit was far too short and I'm really looking forward to next time so we can actually go ride bikes. There's a lot more to show you. And there are a lot more figure skaters <s>waiting for you</s> for you to look at, as Doris is now trainer for a whole team of 16 synchro skating girls... I'm kind of like their mascot. :huh I'll try to combine a ride report with a visit to one of their competitions, as this may well be my only chance to ever score a front page nomination Cheers, Remi
Just the rental ones do that (I thought I was gonna biff when I attempted that one... ) Riding and figure skaters! I'm on my way!
Our pleasure! You're always most welcome. Visit us again soon! Thank you! We're moving in As soon as we don't have to deal with that visa-stuff we'll be happy to tour US for some time!
