Well, I sorta had a hunch you may have to rein in. I heard the weather guy say this'll be the coldest Memorial Weekend in about 30 ish years. I was up at Cascade Wed/thur and it was cold rainy and sleeting.

Now Mr Trailrider, regarding this previous statement

Since you put it in that context of what is currently posted then yes sedate you have to remember the weather is keeping most domicile bound. :D

But some did 4/5 stuff not so long ago:

If the rain has you down, you can sign up (it's free!) to help convert this two-track (map) into a footpath:

You can't tell me that doesn't look like a fun stretch to walk. :rofl I thought it was ironic to receive an e-mail invitation to help that effort right after running into it a few days earlier on a ride.

As usual, trailrider is the first to bail :bow:bow and I thank you. As much as I was looking forward to this, I'm glad you cancled it. On a brighter note, I think I found a replacement for the xr I sold to repair the pig. 2005 crf 450 x. The button rocks.

    Hi'ya Clint.

Interesting, your doing this, I too am heading up there but I am leaving on the 15th. I too am wondering about the conditions as I've routed north of Ola FS618 to FS 206, FS 186, FS248-173 and 169 should dump me out just short of Rubicon. then more dirt just out of Riggins all the way to Lewiston.

    See you out there :ricky

Oh and I'm glad you got to talk to L2R and Burt. I am going to try and see them this summer.

I forgot about that Ludicrous run Tankboy and I did on 39 :evil:clap speeds well in the well... I'll never tell. But it was heart pumping, and tigger LOVED those curves.

You very well may and maybe we need to talk. Since I'm likely to make the club ride a 1 day visit. I'm thinking leave the 15th, out past Ola, 618 to 626, 645, Cascade, try for the challenge points east of Cascade, back track and run 400, 498, Farm to Market up and make a run at Louie Lake if it looks like the snow has melted enough (not looking good there with the recent weather). From there I'm debating on how soon I get to Enterprise. I was thinking an almost all dirt route to Lewiston from White Bird.

Oregon's state bird the Western Meadowlark didn't seem to mind the intrusion. You can hear them tweeting over my noisy motorcycle.

I made it to Boise and am still planning on riding on Tuesday morning. The weather report looks good for that day. Anyone got the day off and want to show me around the mountains? Planning on heading up 8th street and see what I see. I like would like to find a cafe or something at some point. Any recommendations? Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I was up 8th yesterday (I'll post some pics later). What you want to do is head up 8th, and hang a right at the Y up top (can't get anywhere left, as there's still snow). Right will take you across the top of BRR (Boise Ridge Road) and you'll lose elevation until you T into Rocky Canyon at Adolphe (sp) Summit. Hang a left and drop down into Robie Creek area. Hang another left at the next T (Robie Creek) and head up Clear Creek. This will take you all the way around to the Clear Creek Lodge. From there you've got LOTS of options where to head after that. You'll certainly want to have a map with you. Snow line is 6000-6500 ft up there right now.

Lane picked up a 610 yesterday, so we headed up 8th street to break it in and get it dirty.

So, we headed up to see if we could get up over Eagleson. The trees and scrubs were the most beautiful green...

When we hit 5k, the fog set in real thick.

We got to 6500 ft before the snow set in. Sadly, it was likely most gone last week... but this most recent storm dumped a LOT of new snow up there. I was about 200 years from the summit to get over Eagleson ~ the other side (the shadow) side will be a while before it melts off to get over Eagleson.

So, we turned around, to see if we could get around to Bogus Rd.

The area under the fog was gorgeous.

As with Eagleson, we got hit with snow around 6500 ft. It'll be a while before the waist deep drifts melt.

We headed east on BRR to Rocky Canyon, and took it home.

I know one can get down the Tollgate Road to Robie, and over Clear Creek with ease. Given the snow line, I doubt Grimes Pass is open yet... but most everything else back there should be open (minus Hawley Lookout).
