    Hi! :wave

If you are here to see someone put together a gleaming example of finely fabricated moto-art then you are in the wrong thread.

Right now this thread is a placeholder for a future build. I do not even have the project bike yet.

Before we get started, I'll tell you about my previous builds.

I previously put together this KX250 that I made street legal.

It was loud, obnoxious, impractical, and wicked fun to ride.

    I also built the "Battle-Kat" http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655888

Battle-Kat ended up being a solid rider, even if it was damned ugly. But I bought it, built it, tagged and taxed it for less than $1 per CC, and I enjoyed the build process. Battle-Kat was eventually sold for a profit (assuming you don't count my labor), and the money was used to purchase the KX250 above.

This thread's build will probably end up pretty similar to Battle-Kat.

Capabilities I want from this project:
    1. Commuter capable bike.
    2. Gymkhana capable bike (must have disk breaks front and rear, and excellent cornering clearance).
    3. Two up capable for local riding.
    4. Can do at least 100mph (at least as powerful as a ninja 250).

    Nice to haves:
    1. Gravel/Two track capable

    Budget: About $500

    Likely donor bikes:
    Ninja 250 or 500
    GS500
Some sort of mistreated I-4 sportbike

So, watch this space for moto-butchery, levels of cheapness that make even hardened KLRistas cringe, metalworking skills worthy of a drunken chimp, and maybe a little bit of awesome.

Leads on donor bikes are appreciated.

Seems like FZRs show up for next to free occasionally, more soul than a Kat probably.

Id love to find a cheap Hawk GT and I like the original VFR bikes, too.

Gs500 is always a safe bet

The Hawk and VFR would be cool. I might get lucky. If I want another Kat, there always seem to be lots of those, but I already did one, and I want to try something else. An old 750 would be pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind one of those FZRs at all.

I've got my searches on the CL all lined up. I'm leaving the links here for my convenience.

I've got a VFR 750 motor if that's something you'd be interested in? It's I believe a 1991...I've got a video of it running somehere, before I started parting it out. Bought the bike just for the swingarm and wheel. Sold off a few other bits on it already.
I work in New Philadelphia, Ohio...so should be somewhat close to you judging on your CL links. Not looking for much for the motor.... PM me if you're interested :beer

Thank you for the kind offer. I am going to hold out for a complete or nearly complete bike.
