    Hello fellow GSERS,
I just wanted to know if any of you know how to change the front springs on a f800gs/a.
I'am installing a pair of HyperPro and I will need some tips from those who had done it before.
Is it something that has to be done at the dealer, how difficult is it ?
I also would like the dvd for the repairs, does anybody know which one and where to buy it from?
Thank you so much for your help

    Merry Christmas!

Instructions provided are pretty good. If you have basic tools and some tags for cleanup it's not really that hard. Hyperpro makes pretty pictures. Other than that i removed my forks from the tree for my job so i could do a complete service for the fluid at the same time more easily.

I removed my forks too in order change the oil viscosity and level as recommended.

This is the order I did it. Loosen the top fork clamp on both forks. Loosen the fork caps. Remove the wheel, then the forks.

Once the forks are out, unscrew the fork caps. To get the springs off you need to pull down the spring enough to get a wrench on the nut under the fork cap and then remove the cap. I made a V in a short piece of strap steel to slide under that nut to hold the spring down while unscrewing the cap.

once that is done it is just a matter of pulling the spring, dumping the oil and not losing the spacer as it come out. Pump the forks to get all the oil out.

Once that is done the kit should tell you how much oil to add, air gap, pump the forks to get the air out of the cartridge and reinstall in reverse order.

Undo top clamps. Then loosen the fork caps while bottom clamps are holding the forks for you.

Since you ignored my question I'll ask again, how much do you weight and what oil came with the springs? They game me some middle weight oil for my weight and wish I'd have gone with the heavier one.

    I am sorry Loutre.
I do not why but I had not read your question before. I apologize for that.
I did not open the forks yet. The bike has the oem oil with 1k miles on it. I've not idea what kind of oil they use for new bikes.
    I weight 190 lbs.
Thank you so much for your help and time.

    No problem at all, I'm just in a hurry to get your answer so that you don't have to do it all over again with the right oil grade;

I'm about 160lbs and they pushed me fowards the SAE 10 oil. Worked fine at the start and was certanly better than the crappy oem ones but they still feel soft. Don't hesitate to go up to heavier oil 15 (at least) or 20 wise.

Now good luck and don't forget to get us some feedback :thumb
