With the vast pool of trials knowlege around here I thought a little trivia challenge during the winter might be a little fun. Question 1- After the only American World Trials Champion left Senor Bultos factory ride, what brand of bike did he move to? Question 2- What company introduced the radial trials tire and what year was it available to World top 10 riders? There are no cash prizes for answering these questions.Have fun anyway!

I believe Bernie Schreiber left Bultaco for Fantic, did he not?

The first radial Trials tire......uh.......I don't know. I would guess Michelin, but the year I've no idea. Durnit.

1 Bernie went to ride for the SWM factory.2 Michelin came out with the prototype radial in 1981 that was available to the top 5 world riders. It turned out to be such an advantage that after a few rounds they were banned until they were more widely available in 1982. They were available in 6 compounds that ranged from hot and dry to cold and wet conditions. Who has the next question?

What multi-year top ten placing U.S. National rider actually rode with low top athletic shoes at several Nationals before switching the Dunlop rubber trials boots? Said the athletic shoes allowed more feel to the bike and made sure he avoided hitting the pegs on rocks. What State did he hail from? Good luck with this one.

I watched Bernie on a Italjet at Watkins Glen International trials. If I remember correctly the shifter was on the right side on the Italjet?

Sorry but Bernie rode Italjet after Bultaco. POS cost him a world title. He won 6 world rounds that year 1980 but had 2 DNF due to ignition failures.
I think the order was, Bultaco Italjet SWM Fantic Beta Yamaha.

the first trials radial was a Goodyear 1ply radial used by the US Yamaha factory team 1975. It was so thin they had problems with flats.

Good one. Keith was my first riding partner in Oakley Idaho.
    Taught me a lot.
Scaning the Everett Wa. endurocross results! noticed he rode the Trialcross event last weekend.

If i remember right the Italjet was a rough copy of the sherpa engine. In fact the whole bike. Those engines could run right or left side shifting but by the time of Italjet left side shifting was the standard configertion. Like I said as I remember but memory is fading.......

I remember riding a national at The Bridge of the Gods in the Columbia Gorge, Bernie was there on this cool green Italjet.
    They didn't last long.
