Since I just got home after spending 4 hours at the E.R. with Mrs. Samthg, my response was less than enthusiastic, "sure let's ride". It was Xmas eve and the festivities are finished at my brother's house and we are on our way out the door when my wife missed a step and "went over the bars".:eek1 I can attest, No alcohol was involved, she took not a sip or gulp all night(she probably should have). So Xmas morning at 6am we are sitting in the E.R.. Fractured ankle! So it's 11a.m. when my youngest son, Chris, calls and says he's got a few hours free until g.f. duties with her folks. Let's ride dad?? Can you?? I was not in any mood, to tell you the truth, but I knew I would later regret not riding with him since both our time is so limited. So we meet up at the shop, get the bikes out... Chris rode my R100, and I took the KLX. Headed out of Seal through Long Beach with Palos Verdes as our destination. Mileage wise not a long trip, but it sure eats up the time making a ton of stops and exploring up all the side roads and canyons. The Palos Verdes Peninsula is really a pretty impressive area with fantastic views of the Pacific. Big $$$ real estate up there too! Heading north out of Long Beach past the Wylan art convention center to San Pedro and across the Vincent Thomas Bridge(I had to use some old pics I had of the c.c. and bridge). Our point of destination was the Terranea Resort. As we got here I made sure I weaved my through all the Mercedes & Lexus' to make a loop through the horseshoe valet area. We got some crazy looks doing that. Decency is overrated. Proof we made it.. A few more shots from the grounds of the resort... In the distance is the Point Vincente Lighthouse... After a bit more touring of the peninsula, it was off to home with one more stop at the Trump National Golf Course.. Turned out to be a fantastic day with cherished time with my son. Thanks Chris.
Merry Christmas, Sam. Nice ride with your son. Too bad about Mrs. Samthg. Nobody likes an unplanned trip to the ER. Hope you do lots of riding in 2013!
Thanks RRR. Hope you and your family had a fantastic xmas. The Mrs. misstep really took a big hit on our mini travel plans. The night of the 26th we had a reservation at the HI Exp in S.G.. This is usually our pattern and from there we decide where we want to go. During the winter months it is always weather related of course. This year the plan was to possibly head out to Toroweep(would have been in our Jeep), and catch 'The Wave'. If not, we would have headed up to Bryce or out toward Page. But none of it happened and that's ok. She's recovering in a boot and I'm spending more time at work. BTW, nurses make BAD patients! Sorry CA keeps sending you crappy weather, we'll try to improve that soon for ya. Sam
After my last response I hit submit and my macbook went into "confusion mode". My reply was not posting, so I shut the laptop and left. Now checking and I see it did post. Que pasa???:huh
