No problem. I'll even submit the entry form for you. Just remember the rules. Leave the key in it. Full tank of gas. Battery connected. I'll return it after the show...I mean I'll help you load it up after the show.

Maybe we'll throw some knobbies on Jr's 690SMC if ya'll have room! Andrew, got any cast-offs he can buy?

My ride for this year is currently wearing studs. I'll throw that on the trailer, too.

Key, battery, top it off. Got it :thumb

Don't forget... she loves a good spanking.

I can't remember what size that 690 took but post up what you need. Several of us have a stack of half roasted skins.

The 690 SMC is a 120/70-17 front and 160/70-17 rear I think. The rear tire can be anything from a 150 to 170 if it's just for "show"

We're in the process of doing dump runs, if I see a pair of TKC takeoffs I'll save em for ya.

So, I posted on CL about the bike show.

Hope that is not stepping on toes.

If so, I shall remain anonymous.

Oh, wait, someone knows me... :eek1

Thanks for the edit, and again, apologies for the sarcastic rant! Hope to see a nice variety of bikes at the show.

Well, thanks for the constructive criticism :huh

I guess you missed the last part of this line:

However, I don't want the ad to offend riders so I will edit it...

I want to encourage owners who think the show is only for "custom" bikes to enter whatever they ride.

I know there will be lots of custom Harley's there, AHD does a fantastic job of encouraging riders, organizing rides, and they even have a campground for traveling riders.

My friends have HD's and one may enter one of his this year but they agree that they want to see more variety at the show.
And three of them are looking for dual sports to add to their stables.

Don't forget the vintage old's cool bikes. Sure would be nice to see more bikes from the 60's and 70's that a lot of us grew up on. :1drink

    Excellent suggestion sir.

My motorcycle interest started in the mid '60's when I would ride my bicycle for an hour to get to the nearest motorcycle shop.
I spent most of my time there looking at the great selection of used bikes.
A beautiful, used BSA Gold Star for $300 was one of my dream bikes.
Earning $1 a day on the weekends just didn't cut it to buy an expensive bike like that though... :cry

I will do another CL ad for vintage bikes, and cafe' racers too.

I have gotten nice positive response from the ad so far.
People say they will actually go to the show if there is more than the usual HD display.

One fellow said he hasn't been to the show in years because there was nothing there he wanted to see, even if it was free.
He said he goes to the dealers to look at the nice new bikes.

Hopefully we can get a LOT of variety of bikes in the show this year.

Thanks for the edit, and I do apologize for my constructive criticism being on the harsh/sarcastic side. I should have been more diplomatic.

So is it "Let the cleaning begin" or It's an adventure bike, it's supposed to have a little dirt on it?
I'm on the fence about putting mine in.......

You should Jeff. Be cool to have a variety of adventure bikes there. We are bringing a BMW and a ktm.
As for clean or not I'm undecided. Its had its spring cleaning done already. If things keep going the way they are I'm not gonna be able to resist riding it.

If I put mine in, it will be there with dirt, duct tape, and all. It gets used and I'm proud to show it that way.

OK, be proud , but be aware there will be adventure bikes there that are used hard and yet look like a bunch of work has gone into making them look good.

    :clap Atta boy!

    That's the adv spirit :D

I have been telling everyone to enter whatever they ride and so far almost everyone thought it was a show for choppers...
and only one person had ever gone to the show.
    Once
It was mostly fancy Harleys so he never went again.
(not counting the new bikes the dealers had of course)

Wouldn't it be great to turn the show into a custom ADV bike show by outnumbering the chrome show bike's? :lol3

Let's show 'em what we have!

    Ah, well...

I guess I offended some and the post was flagged and deleted.

How to reach all the riders with neat bikes?

Most I have spoken with didn't know about this site (they do now) and they rarely go to any of the shops.

CL is one common place most look at just to see what is in the motorcycle section.

I will try another ad and see if the people who consider it their duty to flag stuff are watching.
