I've seen that a few times, and the last time it was a Wildkitty machine. I bet the tank is busted and they're onto the good old back up Bambi.
^^^ Eh Eh!...the old Provo Wallis. Gone now. I may just have been there when that chopper was flying above. Looks like a fueling trip for the lighthouses, the fuel barge is aboard. Also means a garbage disposal run re:the chopper. At the Victoria base just last week: How about a pic from under ???
[QUOTE=H96669;18917684 How about a pic from under ??? Where and when was this taken? That's 308!! She's my bird!! (Well I guess she's Canada's bird, we we're tight)
Wound up with a new gopro camera. Soooo I stuck it to my head and gave it a try. Bit of an test run, but came up with this: Some loads off the CCGS Bartlett to Trutch repeater <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qK_n-BNZ95E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Awesome! I like the footage of the last run - the ship was framed perfectly by the hole in the door bubble, and I could see enough of your collective hand (nice Breitling, btw ) to watch you load the disc on your approach. More, please! - Darren
Neat, Weirdo! Thanks for posting Next time, take us with you while you skedaddle over the treetops without the fast forward. So damn beautiful in BC that at least I don't mind the trip
I'll see what I can come up with. I moved the camera to the other side of my helmet so that it will give a better view of the hook and what's going on with the crew. It's too bad that its not every day that we pull loads off the ships. H96669 We'll see you when you come along side. Thanks for the hooks that other day, that job was a pleasure...as usual...
If I can ask a bit of a noob question... What line length were you using? I'd think it'd be more than 100' with the trees and all. Thanks Great video!!!!
It's 125'. We have 75' extentions if we need it, but we never seem to. All the places that we sling to for CCG are fairly prepaired, repeaters and lighthouses. I wouldn't want to pull anyting off the well deck of a ship with anything too long. I figure banging a load off the bridge is not a good way to make friends with the Captain. The 125 is perfect.
Aww, come on!!!! That sounds fun! NOT Alright, thanks for the answer I'm mostly a lurker but have an interest in whirlybirds so time'll tell.
I don't hook, just make sure they have fuel in their bellies. Would have been the "White" crew, "Red" just got on this Wednesday. Won't be there until later tonight, then leave for Juneau at 06.00 AM. But back to pickup the Navaids after Juneau. But yeah, you should sent the Video here, we can put it on the LAN and then everyone can see it.
Your job looks like too much fun Weirdo. If I didn't have a wife and kids, and roots where I am I would love to get into long lining.
I love it, I can not lie. I wish you could get into it too. It's the hardest thing that I've ever done in my life, bar none, but that's what makes it so satisfying. Heading over to the North West corner of Haida Gwaii tomorrow. Going to be slinging a bunch of batteries off the Langara lighthouse. It's crazy beautiful, rugged, end of the Earth kind of place. I'm bringing the camera, we'll see what we get.
