Oh, the inhumanity of it all. Snow at 1300 feet this morning in Lewiston of all places. When will it end!?!? I need to get a ride fix but can't get to my riding areas. Pierce is probably back up to 3 feet by now, and Elk City is no better. Sorry, just had to vent. This weather sucks. Now back to your regularly scheduled asylum programming.

I hear ya! Tom and I breathlessly await the weather report each day, hoping against all odds for a NICE DAY!! We don't live too far from Pierce. The main road is OK, and with heated gear, we can go as long as it's not going to freeze...we don't mind the cold, just don't like ice.
I think God is sick and tired of all the arguing over Global Warming and decided that 2008 was the time to settle it once and for all...:rofl

The Forest Service said most of the mountain campgrounds have 3-4 feet of snow. They doubt that the campgrounds will be open by Memorial Day. So much for heading into the mountains fly-fishing.

I see where Hemlock Butte @ 5800 feet has 12 feet of snow still. That's going to be a lot of runoff come the great meltdown! Maybe I should look at getting sand tires to play with in the mud later this spring. That's all we're going to have to ride in until July. Of course, next week could hit 80 degrees. Ya just never know.

I drove to work (165 miles one way) on highway 2 this AM - and it was like midwinter - complete with snow plows and cars off the road in the ditch. :uhoh

Fog and ice. :bluduh And to add insult to injury - it is overlapping with construction season (Highway 2 took a real beating - so beware between Davenport and Creston 16 miles of grooved highway and pilot cars). I think Davenport must have pissed off the weather gods - In my 4 years of commuting through there it always seems to attract the most miserable of conditions. Including rogue gusts of wind trying to topple hapless bikers...

...and as an added note - the reservoirs are all drawn down pretty low in the central part of the state. Lake Roosevelt has some pretty substantial "beaches" - along with Lake Chelan...I keep looking at that snow lurking in the mountains with these cold temps. When it warms up - it could all come down with a vengence.

Never snowmobiled, but if the winters start staying like this, I'll have to add it to my list so I have a way to get into the woods before Memorial day.

Yep, I was on the Keller ferry last weekend.
The north side dock is now relocated up the San Poil a little ways.
It must be drawn down 100-200 feet right now.
