I bought in a couple years ago. They ding my card $3 per quarter for full access, so I haven't dropped the service. The times I wanted detailed maps of the the slickrock in Moab, or the trails I ride in Arkansas, I felt they were weak. I keep with them hoping their trail map inventory grows.
Try www.treknow.com. You at least get to see samples in advance. They have raised prices recently, but you still get plenty of trails for 20, 30 or 40 $.
IMO, Trailsource is a gimmick at best; and flagrant plagerizers at worst. I signed up to give them a try and for several of their rides, I found however that they either have very little useful information or in some cases, copied word for word, information that was available elsewhere on the Internet for free. I remember some of the trails they had for the Dark Divide area in the mountains of Southern Washington (near Mt St Helens) - they simply copied the info off the US Forest service website. I called them and asked them if they had any plans on improving the service; or at least provide original information and they pretty much said what you see is what you get. Too bad, interesting concept and one I would gladly pay a reasonable fee for if it was any good (which I also told them) oh, and I second the recomendation on Treknow. They did an outstanding job on the OBDR route CD that I purchased from them. They had maps, GPS routes, even track logs and roll charts for the entire 950 mile route.
www.trailsource.com I searched here and at KTMTalk but found nothing. The site makes the following claims: Unlimited Access To 1,000 More Dirt Bike Trails. Unlimited Access To 10,000 Trail Descriptions. Unlimited Access To 5,000 Trail Maps. Unlimited Access To 5,000 Trail Photos. Dozens Of New Trails & Maps Weekly. Save Time, Find All Info In One Place. No Additional Per Trail Fees. Convenient Auto-Renewal. No Banner Or Popup Ads. One Step Sign Up Process Below! Price is reasonable for a one time "get it and download and get out". I'm interested but am looking for the experiences of others first. 'munkie
Just looking at the trails listed for my area of the world, everything there is publically available for free with just a little bit of effort. Perhaps it might be useful to have it pulled together in one place, but I wouldn't spend this much to save 30 minutes of searching on my own. And the searching gives you a feel for an area, the history, and other information that is interesting apart for the trails themselves. - Mark
i was just shown,, you gotta pay, but it looks like trailmaps and gps track downloads arround the world? does anyone know if it is worth it? looks good
I joined it a while ago, and always forget until I get the notification that I was charged for it again. Every time I've needed or wanted trail maps, I've forgotten to check into it. In fact, I forgot about it until you just brought it up....now I am going to see what I can find! Edit to say: Damn! Now that I want to look it says my subscription is expired!
I wasn't too impressed with them. The first thing I checked out was which trails in my neck of the woods they covered, and there were a bunch they missed. I think all the major trails are in there but I wanted to find ALL the motorized trails in the state. Then again it is pretty cheap, and you could just do a month and get as much info as you want/can then cancel.
I tried them out a couple years ago - however the information was scarce they didn't have really anything to offer that I couldn't have found anywhere else for free - or in an atlas/book/asking somebody - what I truly didn't like (and a lot of on line businesses do this) is auto renewing every year against my credit card. If you don't use it and forget, you get charged - which happened to me - but they were pretty nice after I contacted them to cancel and refunded my money.
thanks guys, my foreman at work has it, and i think i can just print till the ink is gone! and like you said enduro. the trails i want to find are the "good ones", like i thought, when im going somewhere im shure there is a FF that knows! thanks guyz MOMMER
