As a happy DR owner, I've been thinking about something with a little more long road motor in it. I'm thinking a slightly warmed over Hinckley twin would be worth the effort while maintaining the air cooled simplicity of my DR. I've thought about modifying a Scrambler or Bonnie, but getting what I want for weight/ground clearance/suspension seems equally challenging to the motor swap. Has anybody out there tried this?
Frankly I'm kinda surprised to not see more uses of the air cooled Triumphs given their reliability and availability.

    Hello vicster,
have a try in the 'Triumph Scrambler'-Thread in the 'Beasts'-category! You should find answers there ...
    Kind regards, Bambi

Thanks, I'll do that. I lurk there once in a while. Test rode a Scrambler and it felt too cramped. Lowered pegs and raised 'bars make my DR nice and roomy.
Since 780cc is easy to do to the DR, I'm thinking a lightly breathed on 865 is the minimum to make it worth the effort.
