Hey Joe!! Yes, the KLR is still in pieces. I need to get it back together, but after this long, I'm not even sure if I could remember what went where!! Give me a call some time, we need to ride!

I agree it's Deal's Gap. Back in the '70's we rode our Honda 550's and 750's through that area a lot and never thought about it. Just another curvy road. I remember stopping at the "Crossroads of Time" gas station. Then one of the magazines (Cycle??) did a piece about the road as a hidden race track. It hasn't been the same since. Last time I went up there the road was clogged with pirates.
    Cheers

The beginning of the end of anything good is when it starts to get talked up.
My solution to the problem: Look for my own little "honey holes".
Be it places that are good to fish, good to hunt or good to ride.
THEN, I KEEP IT TO MYSELF!
I know better than to believe that I have discovered any place in this old world we live in. But it's damn fun to pretend like I did!
And when others stumble upon one of "my" spots, it's cool to hear how they love it for their own reasons.

Couldn't have said it better. Heck, we go up 68 to Tellico and do a round trip on the Skyway which is sooo much more fun than 129. :D

    how long ago was that?

I started riding up from Wilmington in 1976 on my brand spanking new XT500C :eek1 and it was paved then, or I'm having a senior moment?

450 miles one way on a 500cc single with a 2.3 gallon tank, floppy front fender and old school square block trials tires and all my camping stuff strapped on the back.

you have no idea the bad thoughts I have about my first ex destroying all my photo albums

    it would be NC28

like "Devil's Stairs" is Buck Creek Gap (NC80)

    "Diamondback" is NC226A

'the Snake" is Iron Mountain (US421)

    "Devil's Triangle" is Oliver Springs/TN116
