Ok, So I live in Carroll County, Md. Stone's throw from the Mason Dixon line. I did a search, found Baltimore riders, central Pa. riders. I'm right in between, probably with a lot of other riders. If there is a similar thread please direct me there and delete this one. Otherwise, who's out there? Do you have the navigational skills to put some rides together? I'm not gps savy, routes etc. It'd be nice to hook up once in a while for some gravel, paved, fire road type riding. Whatcha say.... :ear

Thanks Blaster, I know there are some good roads up here that just need to be discovered and organized. I get lost on purpose just exploring but don't have the gps/tracking to really do much with it, yet.

Yep, the folks from the Balitmore Ridin' Dirty thread go up your way a lot. One of our usual meeting spots in the park and ride off of MT Carmel Road, which should be pretty close to you.

Carroll County doesnt have much for dirt and no trails that I'm aware of. You best bets are going to Michaux State Forest just east of Gettysburg or over to York County PA and riding around the Susquehannah River. Both are ~45 mins from Carroll County.

Here is a decent loop around Carroll county that hits as much dirt as I could find:

I scouted this ride out last fall and had been saving it for the Ridin' Dirty thread this season... but since its exactly what you're looking for here you go. Its a decent amount of dirt, for the area, and has a lot of farm land scenery, but nothing amazing. I'm trying to figure out how to spruce it up before I use it for a ride route in the Ridin' Dirty Thread. They can be a tough crowd.... Maybe you know a few local secret spots that you can add?

Thanks Guys. Sidecar, you pretty much nailed it. Most of the dirt/gravel roads are short and connect to more asphalt. I have a nice loop near my house just north of Prettyboy dam. Still just a tease. I'll definitely meet you guys at the next one.Cheers, Jeff. That loop you sent covers half of my secret stash. I need to get this gps thing figured out.:huh

Hey HappyClam! I'm a former Carroll County resident (15+ years) and you picked a nice place to live.:clap If you're jonesing for some dirt-go south on Rt. 97 to 144 to Rt. 15 South to Lovettsville, Virginia. It's right across the Potomac River bridge. There are more than 200 miles of dirt roads in Loudoun County, VA that are worth exploring and it's only 55 miles from the town of Westminster. Scenic riding, not a lot of traffic and nice people to boot. There are also miles and miles of twisty asphalt that are perfect too for the Supermotard rider in you. Enjoy!

If you would like a short evening ride, including a little dirt, check out the following:

Take Rt 26 west from Eldersburg. Just after Myeski Park, make a right on Salem Bottom Road. Then a left on Sams Creek Road. Follow that road for a while, then make left on Pearre Road. On the left will be an old abandoned grain mill. A few miles up on Pearre, on the right will be a large red brick plantation house that is pretty old. Worth the trip if you are into civil war era or older homes.

From there head up to Union Bridge and then back home.

Thanks Mstrom, I'll definitely check this out also. Maybe we should plan a meet-up one weekend?, To who's ever in the neighborhood. I assume your on a strom,(I'm smart like that). Me too, however I'm seatless for a few weeks. Getting a custom..finally. I also have a transalp that I will favor anyway if more dirt is involved. Cheers, Jeff.
