I am at 20,000 plus on my 2007 DR200SE and contemplating selling it as I have not really saddled her up in almost a year due to a new-to-me R1150GSA. I road it to work every day up till the day I plated the R1150. I just keep running it around the yard to keep it warm and running with fresh gas and oil.
Zaboo you could buy the set and then sell the others individually for a couple bucks each. I did that with a TTR125 I bought my nephew a few years ago. Made my money back plus fixed his bike .
Slide the smallest washer onto the pointy end of the needle all the way up until its snug against the needle clip, should be a snug fit. Drop the needle down into the slide and bounce it around until it drops through the center hole in the slide. Push the needle back up with your finger so you can add the larger shoulder washer to the top of the needle. Place the spring against that. The diaphragm has a little tab on one side that matches with the tab on the carb body and cover.
I think I lost that smallest washer, and that is why the needle has some play. I just have the clip on the needle and a nylon spacer which goes on top of the clip. I'm guessing that washer guides the needle down to seat positively with the main jet. That is why I'm running so rich that I have to keep the air filter off to keep the engine from choking out. Thank you! I'll look for that part. I'm sill concerned about what I may have done to the float level by bending the tabls all over the place, trying to compensate. Does anyone know how to set that correctly? Can I just send my carb in to Keintech, along with my muffler and get it all done right? How much would that be?
How much would a whole wheel be, from one of those sites that sells the Chinese clones of these bikes? hay might sell spokes as well...
You have probably found the manual by now but here it is: http://www.scribd.com/doc/40540261/DR-200-Owners-Manual
Nope. That's the link I knew of and I refuse to allow all the scripts on that site to run on my computer so it won't load the images for me. Seriously don't visit that site. Ever. NoScript is showing a total of 7 really bad guys trying to run and a couple others that are malicious but are no big deal if you run a pop-up blocker, etc.
Got sometime new for you all. I've never had a cycle do this before. The key is so loose in the ignition while riding my 2003 DR200 (bought it the end of Feb. w/ 728 miles on it), that I can hear it buzzing with my faceshield open on my full face helmet. I thought it might be loose enough I could pull it out while riding and then re-insert it to turn the ignition off, but it's not quite that loose. The only thing I can think of is a strip of velcro secured on both sides of the key to keep it from buzzing. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Larry aka CharlieDog Bristol, TN
That happens when you hang a bunch of heavy crap on the keychain. Probably have a lot of wear around the ignition as well where all that crap was rattling. Might try smearing a tiny layer of beeswax on the key? IDK other than replacing the ignition.
Hi, I've just become an ADVrider member today. This is my first reply (I haven't yet figured out how to post anything). Being an old man I'm somewhat of a techno-tard when it comes to learning my way around. I have a 2000 DR200 and was pleased to see an interest in a DR200 thread. I hope to learn a lot and look forward to seeing how other DR200 riders roll. Thanks!
Thank you, this is a great site. The more I see the more I like. I'll feel better once I learn how to find my way around.
Thank you, I see I just started a new reply while trying to reply to your "welcome". I'll get this figured out sooner or later. Fun stuff.
Hey guys, My name is Paul, purchased my first bike for me and my missus to learn on. Got a 07 DR200 and absolutely love it! My missus has a sprung ankle at the moment so she hasn't had a chance to do anything with it but I've been on it every day since I bought it :) Definitely like the thread going here! So I'm wondering what the limitations are on this bike, I've now had it in some soft sand/clay at a pit and it seemed to do really well. Climbed a small hill, road on some dirt, gravel, and hard packed clay and it really has seemed to push through everything I've put in front of it with no problem at all. I'm tall but skinny, 6'0 at 145lbs and have no problem getting up to speed. So I'm wondering if this thing will push through some trails? Nothing to intense as we don't have much/if any elevation here in Southern Alabama near the coast. Few rolling hills and thats about it, so where should I be concerned when it comes to off-roading? I've only had the bike for a week but I can't imagine ever getting rid of it... well it'll go 100% to my missus if she decides she wants to really start getting into it, then I'll look at the drz400 for my dual sporting. Thanks for a great thread and I look forward to any responses :) Paul
Welcome to motorcycling, Paul. I imagine the DR200 is up to whatever kind of service you want to throw at it. You could even take it touring if you're patient enough. It's short on power and suspension, but I'll never get rid of mine. It's the one I ride every day.
I need more power on the interstate especially on slight gradients. I do not want a 650 just yet. Wll the kientech kit, air box bod and fmf exhaust significantly improve the power or not?
Improve? Yeah a bit but not as much as you'd like. Haven't done it with the 200 yet but pipe/airbox/jetting on a 4 stroke is usually only good for about a 10-15% increase in HP or so. I don't even really like taking my 400 on interstates - a 600 is really the minimum IMO for long term, comfortable freeway cruising. If you were referring to the DR650, I'd suggest looking at some other options besides that bike.
