    About the course, without knowing anything about it i still would say yes.
    For GPS/phone somthing like this

    When I rode out to Texas last month, I was a little surprised at how many little 2-lane state back roads had 65-75mph speed limits.

    I took the old advanced course, so I'm not sure how they have changed. Regardless, any additional instruction you can get is good.

    Also check out the books by David Hough, Nick Ienatsch, Lee Parks, and Keith Code.
