I was thinking about that bike again today and it might have been a locally provided bike for Mungenast to ride in the Trask Mountain Qualifier around 1974.

I didn't know they came from Keene. Mrs. melville, who grew up in Keene when these bikes were made, didn't know either. I pointed this detail (address) out to her and she said, "Oh yeah, I know the place," but no idea that there were bikes being made there.

I have inherited all my dad's old Cycle Guide magazines from the 70's and one of them had a review of the rokon automatic. I should see if I can find it again.

Drool.....I love it! I followed them back in the day but I wouldn't be much help on the year (somewhere between 75 and 77). They didn't change much but like someone said, you don't see many with spokes. Front and Rear disks were way ahead of their time. I remember dirt bike testing one and though out of date at the time, seemed semi impressed (except downhills). That would be one to fix up over time, don't worry about the money since over 2 to 3 years it would hardly be noticed.

It would be a hoot at the Stumpjumpers Desert 100!

:huh I have been trying to find the year it was made and it might be a "74" but I don't know and Rokon has not returned my email. From what I have found out not many were made in "74" maybe something around 3 to 4 hundred.

I'll look up the "Trask Mountain Qualifier" I don't know much about it!

    Thanks,

What you have is a 74 RT-1 plastic tanker. The 1973 models still had a yellow fiberglass tank.

there is an ad on craigslist in my city selling old gas tanks and one happens to be for a rokon if interested. It's in Charleston, sc, and I have no affiliation with the seller. Just info for the masses.

Google "Rokon 340"...quite a bit of good info on this bike including photos and some video. It is probably worth a few bucks to the right person.

There is a guy who has a whole bunch of Rokon RT340 NOS parts for this bike, and his prices are very reasonable. If you give him the serial number, he can tell you all about the bike. Some did come with spoke wheels, so don't assume it is incorrect yet. Below is a link to his contact info. I just got two big boxes in the mail full of parts for my RT340....new handlebar master cylinder, rebuild kits for calipers, fenders, tank, airbox, seat, brake hoses, and more. All new old stock and priced right. H.

I'm in the process of building an RT-1 as a trail bike. Any help locating parts would be appreciated.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. From the lack of a rear brake pedal, I'm wondering if the rear caliper was linked to the front brake lever. The rear brembo is not standard.

I think the left hand lever is the rear brake, centrifugal clutch.

I have a plug holder on my BMW ISDT replica, never needed a plug though, it is just a cool accessory, and I can show off my pink porcelin Beru plugs.
