Some product planner at Honda is reading these mpg discussions on different forums and thinking, yeah we nailed it!
all good stuff... I am just lookig for additional feedback on the bike... I am first time road rider, long time off road rider considering the NC700... my worries are does it have enough HP to ride comfortably two up doing day or weekend trips... ??? thanks!!!
Did you see the video of a two up, fully loaded ride up the The Gotthard Pass? <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/P5ubMp1oDSo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The local honda shop seems to be doing a brisk bidness' in CBR250's and the NC700's, seen a few rideing around. The one they have sitting in the showroom now has like $2000 worth of add on's, givi racks and full luggage, Different windshild, heated grips, Driveing lights, dual sport tires, etc. Looks sharp.

My girlfriend and I always go for rides on the NC. It has plenty of power to accomodate two riders and a glovebox full of goodies. The only comment I should incude is that my girlfriend is significantly shorter than me (about a foot) and the rear seat isn't raised enough for her line of sight to clear the back of my helmet. This shouldn't be much of a problem for most couples, however. -Ryan
Can anyone tell me if it is possable to get a rotpax fuel cell/can into the storage compartment of one of these bikes? Just a thought!
I'm putting one on the rear rack when I get it.I just put one on my wifes GS500 rack last night.I used the Kolpin 1.5 gallon,I have a RotoPax 2 gallon also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rotopax containers do not fit. They are an odd design for a fuel container being so thin (tall) they push the width and length dimensions out. The ordinary square or rectangular types will fit to about 5 liters.
Was looking for reviews when I found this. Started scanning the review before I saw the authors name. http://www.ashonbikes.com/content/honda-nc700x-0
Here is the dims of a 2 gallon RotoPax The Kolpin is thicker but smaller overall. Rotopax..13.5"x19"x3"h Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think you will see 80-85 easily just by holding the speed to 55 and limiting stop and goes. Just today I took a ride with an eye toward getting a good mpg return without holding up traffic and still have fun. I picked a route where I would get out of urban traffic quickly then ride over 100 miles with a return to the same gas station, same gas pump and still have fun doing it. I did not exceed 60 mph and most often was between 50 and 60. I know this will not excite many riders and ADV riders in particular but it was a nice change of pace for me and a beautiful day to just be out riding. The thread has returned recently to fuel mileage and I had not had mpg on my mind for a while so it was fun for me. My bike turned 9500 miles on the ride today. 119 miles/1.44 gallons = 82.4 mpg on 10% ethanol regular. I am 5' 6" and 155 lbs.
Hey dduelin ... That's great MPG's ..... Just for reference ..... which windscreen do you have installed and what side and/or top bags did you have on during your ride ?? Thanks - Larry
The bike did not have bags or top box in place for a short day ride. I didn't install saddlebags as the type of regional touring I do is handled by a 46 liter top box and the 21 liter not-a-tank storage. My windscreen is a National Cycle Wind Deflector.
