I've just come out in a cold sweat thinking about all the money I pumped into my Duke. It was a real love hate relationship. The final straw was my Campagnoli magnesium wheels breaking up :cry

A friends Darmah had a porous crankcase that dripped oil onto his rear tyre when the speed got up. That caused a few exiting moments for him :D

    Lovely bikes but so delicate.

Rob, Imagine this... I got rid of the "rubber band" 2V Ducs and kept the F650 and bought the R80 ST thinking I would slow down on pumping money into the bikes.

I'm still pumping the money into the BMWs and missing these...

Stock footpegs, else it would go over a bit further...

And this miscreant, built literally from a basket or three of loose parts.....

There is no sound like a Ducati up on the pipes, whether it be street or track.

But then there is no sound like an R80 on the pipes on a long climb through north Georgia mountain roads, either. :clap

Mine wasn't :D but it had some serious tuning. It was a hell of a bike to ride though - That front wheel was a temporary one.

    1988 I think

I agree completely about the sound. There's a guy lives over the back from me with a 900SS any sunny Sunday morning he fires it up and takes it for a blast, it sounds glorious.

That's a great looking bike Mark.

I have purposely avoided looking at this thread, as I have a......aaaa....ahem...Ducati problem!
The more I look at these cursed beasts the more I want/need one!

I built a 250 Monza that was super trick years ago, but I have always wanted a sweet big twiin, I do not care what, really, a Pantah, 900ss, any air cooled twin. I love bevels, but the later motors are more of a rider, and I would put some miles on my bike!

Aahhh, I should have just gone to bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the pics, time for a good cry!:cry

Fubar, just go find yourself a nice rubber head 900SS. I've seen the US market on those things and once you get clear of the left coast they're practically giving them away.

    You know you wanna. :deal

Rob F, Looking like lots of rex x's this morning. Which is a shame 'cause I'm guessing there's some interesting bikes under there...

It was a copy made by John Williams, he also made the tank, seat and fairing for the bike (this guy http://www.thetankshop.com/) I did a swap for all the parts in exchange for a spare Duke engine. The pipe sounded awesome.
