Ninja 1000/Z1000SX Owners' Thread (or wanna be's)

I'm really liking the looks of this bike as a sport tourer. This could be a great al-rounder...

I like the bags, the ergos and the power. MCN loves it, too. How come EU gets ABS, and USA not. Probably because kawasquids don't need no stinking abs (but I do).

Its a nice bike! If I wasn't commited ... I'd get one!

and they tease us by leaving the ABS sensor boss on the forks....

I'm sold on that bike.
I'm definitely planning on selling my ZZR600 and my V-Strom and replacing them with the Ninja 1k.

Unless somebody comes out with something that can seriously rival this, I'll be on one in 5 years.

saw and sat on it at the IMS. nice option. the front screen is adjustable. very comfy.

If I was 5-10 years younger this would be my zx9r replacement. Sucks when reality sets in.

The ABS option for Honda's CB100R will also not be available in the US.

You referring to this? Not the same engine (I think).

Different bike with completely different engine. Recall (or tech hold as Kawi is referring to it) is for the ZX-10R, not the Z1000-based Ninja 1000.

Yep, the current ZX10R is totally and completely different :)

It does look like a lovely bike, but I always wonder why not buy a purebred superbike, add helibars, an aftermarket seat and luggage? Would you not end up with the same touring ability but with much more power and less weight?

Less power may equal better fuel efficiency, and less weight doesn't necessarily a better touring bike make...

Well, for one thing, the Ninja 1000 is almost three grand cheaper than the ZX-10R. It's the smartest option for people who don't need the fastest/lightest combination for their cross-country tours.

The adjuster is incredible....one hand to adjust without tools....adjust is less than a second.



Uses the same bags as the Versys.

You also have to consider the manner in which the power is delivered. More does not always equal better, especially for a multi-use bike. If you can manage a flatter torque curve at lower RPM's without completely sacrificing an exciting top end...well, you've got a better bike. It's one of the reasons I like my Bandit. And it's the reason I'm really interested in this new Ninja. Usable power that's effortless to access. You can have your cake and eat it too.

It looks beautiful.
Esp if you dont want an out and out sports bike but more of a mile muncher that can play in the twisties also .
2 points though - The pillion seat looks like a torture rack for any decent distance and the riders seat dosen't look too hot either.

- the exhaust looks like it vents directly onto the side panniers . THe outcome of that we'll have to wait and see i guess.

Other wise it looks like a winner.
