Hi Joel, Looking forward to riding again with you Joel and yes I'm really liking taking pictures&video because most of my riding is solo and I have the time to stop. So when I have a spill I will most likely have it on video too. That was my tip to change my hwy sprockets back to off/road.
You should see my room......not so neat I did pack way too much stuff though and will know better for my next trip. The Wolfman bags are great and kept everything nice and dry.
Great report! I really, really, appreciate the HDR shots. Nice work. What program are you using? Do you typically use only 3 exposures with a +/1 eV bracket? Are you layering to get the different effects in different parts of the image? I've played around some using Photomatix but I've never produced anything quite that good. Also dig your KLR. I hope to some day get mine looking that nice. Cheers.
Hi Greg, I find that 3 exposures are enough but have used 5-7, -1,0,+1. I use Photomatrix sometimes but mostly use Photoshop CS5 and Nik Software HDR Efex Pro. Photomatrix tends to have too much effect making the pictures look cool but not so real looking. I sometimes make 2 HDR images at different settings and layer them into one with masking. I'm looking forward to getting the Pentax K5 because it has a all new HDR mode. I have the K10 now. I love the KLR and almost have it set up just right for me and it's never let me down in over 20,000 km. Just ordered the Rico Intiminators for the front end and after that it should be perfect. I like the new 2012 KLRs but for off/road I like the older ones and that's what I like doing being off the road on the dirt and if I wipeout it's my fault, not some person who didn't see me coming or even look. Photomatrix
Amazing photos! Thank you so much for sharing. My 2011 KLR is getting prepped for a ride and after looking at this thread I can hardly contain myself. Thank you again.
Damn. You have the best playground to ride a KLR in. I must get there someday! Keep the pics coming. They are GREAT! (Tony the Tiger impression)
When the sun comes out it's a great adventure playground. Helmet cam..... The fun stops at the snowline........
Having some fun off/road. <iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="425" height="318" src="https://api.smugmug.com/services/embed/1837129749_nkDW2m9?width=425&height=318&sb&fs"></iframe>
A few more kms. <iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="425" height="318" src="https://api.smugmug.com/services/embed/1840677258_ztdsSqD?width=425&height=318&sb&fs"></iframe>
Nice pictures and videos, I have been following your trip from the start. Some of the last photos of your local areas on the last few pages are just outstanding, and the KLR is looking good in its Spring colors. Thanks, I think I will go for a ride.
The weather here this springs was nothing but rain most everyday........I think it was payback to me because it was sunny everyday for me in Mexico It's feels like spring now though and I'm sure enjoying it. I went out again this weekend to hopefully make through the higher passes but the snowline is still only at 2000 feet. The pass I was trying to get through the past few weekends rises to 4000 feet so it will still be a few weeks before I make through. Next weekend I'll be trying a different area and hopefully no snow. Off at first light......5;30am I met Mike at the coffee shop. The end off the line again.
A ride through part of Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver. <iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="425" height="318" src="https://api.smugmug.com/services/embed/1845840560_jqsvCqf?width=425&height=318&sb&fs"></iframe>
