What, Berg said. Change everything IMO, Diff, engine, coolant, brakes, grease if you can.

Then you have a baseline you can trust. Always served me well.

Good to see this thread pop back to life.

    Congrats Mick.

I did exactly that to changed, checked and adjusted as required to manual specs. I think the next thing will need to be Altrider crash bars and skid plate. I also like the look of there rear luggage rack. The biggest problem with this bike is I can see myself not riding my more than capable DR 650.

Well oils coolant and adjustments made the suspension has taken a lot of fiddling with but I like riding it know. For the first 500 or so ks I really thought that this was a mistake. Know I have a question there is a viabration well maybe more a harmonic around the 3500 to 4500 rpm is this common, the last parallel twin I had was a Kawasaki KR250 so nothing to compare to.

Mine is a bit vibey at 4K so from a sample of 2 that's normal. :D

Can't really comment on the vibes, my last road bike was a 1400GTR which didn't, and the rest of my fleet are singles which do.

But according to the internet, some S10s vibe more than others, and it either settles down after 10k kms or the rider adapts, or sells the bike.

The stock suspension is OK, just, but the bike can be so much better with a proper shock and fork rebuild with springs to suit.

It it definatly not a vibration like on a DR. So I will just ride it and service as required. The suspension will eventualy get a revamp but that will most likely be when it is worn out.

Has it got an aftermarket muffler on it? My vibes basically disappeared once I fitted that ,but that is the exact range it occurs in.

I had a GYTR can fitted right up..it still felt a bit choked. I pulled the cats out of the headers at 6000 ks. ..it really feels free now

I have a Stain tune muffler fitted it has had the restrictor in, I pulled it out now the harmonic (viabration) has moved up the rev range slightly. I like how it improved the note of the exhaust but only a slight increase in overall volume but I can definatly feel a change in bottom end torque.

I drilled 2 x 6mm holes in the DB killer on my S10's Staintune.

A slightly more mean sound now!

This one gets up there semi regularly, the owner used to have a Rocket3 that he made look small. He's had trouble with the rear spokes working loose, have you?

No haven't had any issues yet.....mind u I've only 4000km on it, but saying that at least 60% of it is off road too. I'll certainly keep a closer eye on the spokes.

Loose spokes? Yep and tightened at first service... OK now.

My KLR 650 did the same thing when new too!
