A second operation was performed and there's a small improvement. He's likely to spend his birthday (Friday) in a coma.

Well, his tone sure has changed. He was somewhat upbeat in his first post. The second post is downright scary.

scary indeed, but like he said, time will tell, just have to hope and pray that he pulls through this.

FUCK"em hopefully he adds cheating death and lifelong brain injury to the list.

The link that Garp posted is an old one from 2010. I don't think people are writing negative articles about his past considering his current condition.

Any update? How long can they keep him in an induced coma? Hoping for a full recovery...

Have a friend with similar symptoms after a bike accident.
She stayed in an induced coma for two weeks. They were taking her off after the first week, and then put her back in to see her response. She is fine now.

I hope Michael recovers from it, it is such a shame....

Same as yesterday. I guess the good news is that he apparently hasn't deteriorated. A friend of his said the family doc said he was out of danger, but the spokespeep shot that down immediately.

His wife has been at his bedside pretty much the entire time, apparently. That's very touching.

He was wearing a Go-Pro, the family has turned it over to investigators.

I must admit that I don't understand the point of the investigation. He was off piste, he fell over and he hit his head on a rock. Seems pretty simple.

Exactly, who gives a fuck. I rooted against him every race and this is whole thing is sad as hell to me. I hope he can pull through this. It's just awful.

I was not a Michael Schumacher fan by any stretch, yet I watched every race. He was the face of F1. I feel like I know him. I've never seen anyone that wanted to win as much as he did.
Fact is, he didn't need to do most of his antics. He would have been champion anyway.
Considering how much time he has been in my thoughts of late, I find he means more to me than I knew.

Good one, thanks. You can tell that the doctors are refusing to do anything but depict worse-case scenarios. I'm sure that part of that is not wanting to raise false hope, as the article says. But I suspect part of is also that they want to protect their professional reputation.

I guess two weeks in a coma is the minimum we should expect. I do wonder why hypothermia isn't dangerous in an induced coma, but would be to you or me when stranded outdoors.
