Oh!The Drama! Bring it, it could be a good season. Watching Marquez in Moto2 now, he will ruffle some feathers. I don't think CC for one will put up with his foolishness.
If Dani ever wants to be a world champion in MotoGP, he better ride the entire 2013 season like he rode the final 6 races this year. Because I think Marquez is going to repeat the same pattern as he has so far and VR before him: win some races the first year in a class and then dominate it in the second year. 2014 is far, far more likely to be MM's year than Dani's.
Not a whole lot. He seemed to spend the whole weekend whining again, and when he says something like that I guess he just fears that the guy taking over will outshine him. Which that particular guy seems to be able to. I also hope Spies has better fortunes next year, lord knows they can't be much worse. But it doesn't start out well.
Many people said last year (2011) was Dani's last chance as he wouldn't be able to ride the 1000's as well or that his weight advantage would disappear. He rode the 1000's pretty well this year. Many people also said Spies would perform better on the 1000's. When was the last time a factory rider performed so poorly over the course of a year?
Point is, declaring Marquez 2014 champion is like predicting the weather 2 months from now. Obviously, he's ready to graduate to MotoGP. Aside from that, who knows? Sure things that didn't turn out that way: Pedrosa too small to ride a 990 race distance. Honda's 800 would pick up where the 990 left off. Stoner would destroy dozens of Ducatis in 2007. Rossi and Burgess would turn Ducati around. etc.
Ian Wheeler is tweeting that Maverick Vinales will likely be signing a contract to move up to Moto 2 in the very near future.
Nothing´s ever guaranteed. Expectations from Marquez are certainly through the roof right now after his amazing performances. If he´s not like in top 5 in these first tests, I bet some will see that as a disappointment. I think at this point he is the biggest promise to enter MotoGP since Rossi. And unless he gets badly injured (remember that eye injury he had, was career-threatening), then he will be also a MotoGP champion one day. But it might take several years.
Not saying you are wrong, I'm watching Marquez, he has huge talent, but I felt the same way about Spies when he ripped through world superbike and went to MotoGP.
Lol, his leathers look too big for him No, it's true you can't predict what will happen. But expectations are naturally high on Marquez, since he has whipped peers' but in a serious manner. If he's able to handle them, and if he's able to adapt to the bigger bikes, and if things outside his control such as injuries don't fuck things up, he has a bright future - a future of many championships even. But sure, those are some pretty big ifs.
Rossi's alien status is in escrow, pending a win. Two years is a long time without one. Worse yet, he got lapped at Valencia.
