A guy (a rider, no less) the other day at a motorcycle event argued with me emphatically that doing hard right turns with my Ural would keep the sidecar planted because the bike would "lean that way. I politely tried to explain that it was actually the opposite, but he was unconvinced.

I should have tossed him the keys and told him to try it.

Yeah, Rokon has been building 2wd motorcycles decades. However, getting drive to the front wheel takes pretty obvious mechanisms. Also, considering the rarity of bikes that do it, it's kind of akin to finding a car with four-wheel steering.

That's how sidecars work here... Perhaps you're doing your Coriolis forces wrong?

The guy stood there listening to him intently, then nodded and said something to the effect of how amazing technology was and wandered off, happy as could be and no doubt eager to share this new found info with his friends.

After the guy left, I looked at the FE with raised eyebrows and a smirk on my face. He just shrugged and said "What? It made him happy."
That reminds me of when I was flying drones for the army. One day someone asked if we could hear what people on the ground were saying. Without even hesitating I said I would turn on the microphone. My camera operator started humming into the intercom. "Sorry we can't hear anything over the engine."

We eventually had to tell him the truth because he started telling people that we could record sound from the plane.

Looks fade. Selfish manipulative bitchiness doesn't. Actually gets worse as they realize their youth is fading.

Never ever EVER will i give up riding for a woman. Or anyone for that matter.

My wife's first husband died in a bike crash making her a young widow. She's never asked me to ride less and in fact, bought a New Bonnie so we can ride together. She knows it's in the blood.

10 year old kid on a bmx

Stopped to get off the bike for a while, and give my butt a break. A kid comes over, and asks if I can do a wheelie, I made hand gestures, saying nope. Then he asks if I can do a burnout. I'm on a CRF250L, just shrugged my shoulders. I didn't want to toast him, I was him at that age.......

That's why you find yourself one that rides! Mrs. XR4EVER (I guess she would be YZ4EVER) and family:

Then she also insisted he get a dog which he frantically did not want and which confused him mightily. I had to explain a bit about dogs to him because he didn't have any idea what to do with it (it arrived as a 'rescue' that day).

I didn't keep in contact with him but I did wonder how that marriage worked out.
I would turn that around on her, with a list of demands of my own: "If we are getting married, you will need to learn to drive a stick, because I don't believe in automatics...or air conditioning" and "That dog needs some hunting training" and "Yeah, we're gonna need to get rid of some paintings, to make more space for animal heads".

And... if I'm giving up my bikes, I get to nail anyone I want anytime I want.
That should settle things.

That was always my comparison: "I could be spending more time/money on hunting and fishing - a boat and a bunch of guns" ... didn't work of course
