So this weekend I was mainly pulling apart my 2012 - 990 Adventure (European model). I undertook a full service and whilst in pieces, I fitted a Rottweiler air intake, got rid of the SAS pump, attempted to fit fuel dongles, tidy up the plumbing and fit the glove box quick release bracket. It turned out a bigger job than I first expected, as after the rebuild there was no power. I tore the whole thing down again before realizing it was the 30 amp main fuse doh (whilst smacking forehead). Finally I fired up and she runs, but with a flashing FI light. 5 slow flashes, 4 fast flashes can anyone help isolate what the code may relate to? I attempted to install the CPR fuel dongles, but unfortunately they were not the correct plugs for my bike, maybe European bikes are different as I noticed there was no fuel evaporation canister or pump. So a pipework and the air pump dongle is available free for anyone wanting to pay postage from Europe.
Ok so I just checked manual and it says Secondary air valve - short circuit to ground / positive or interruption Continues to run - so I guess the SAS pump I removed and replaced with a dongle from CPR is not European KTM compatible. the Fuel dongles - to richen up the fuel also were not compatible with the European bikes, as the loom plugs for the O2 sensor were different.
Re: SAS Measure the resistance of the SAS valve solenoid and install a similarly valued resistor across the two wires that used to energize the valve.
Wire a 28K ohm resistor across the plug. That should solve your problem with the SAS. The same fix can be applied to your non-existent fuel canister vlave.
Thanks guys, the short term fix was a little black tape over the FI light ...at least until the TuneECU cable arrives, then I will turn it off. Chris also tells me the fuel dongles were sent for the wrong model and has kindly sent another set.
