Hello I am new to the forums. Last weekend I was given this photo of my deceased Father I believe was taken mid 1940's Anybody identify the bike he was riding? Appreciate it !
I saw somthing similar being rebuilt on Discovery channel. A 1942 Harley Davidson WLC45. Your Father was in the RAF? An LAC? Has he got a medal ribbon too? (I'm an ex Blue Suit) Good luck on finding the exact make and model of the bike.
I think you are smack on with identifying Dads bike. And yes he was in the RAF and I have his ribbon / medal You rock! thank you again
That is a 74 or 80 cubic inch VL or VLH model - probably 1936 (the last year), judging by the spring cover on the front forks. The aforementioned WLC was a 45-incher which barely resembled the larger VL, especially with all of the military hardware. Plus it had a right-side rear chain... and the VL had it on the left.
