The 24 Hours of Starvation Ridge race is coming up quickly October 26th and 27th. Myself and Daryl from Cyclops Adventure-sports have assembled a team in which we will be competing on our adventure bikes.
We have named our team The Heavyweights for obvious reasons. We have started a Facebook page so our progress on bike preparations, modifications, rider interviews, and race updates can be easily followed.

The facebook page can be found at. http://www.facebook.com/advheavyweights

Our team consists of riders of varying skill from AA NMA hare scramble riders to Baja 1000 racers.

    Team riders:
    Radek Burkat- KTM 990 Adventure
    Darryl VanNieuwenhuise- KTM 950 Adventure
Alex Martens- KTM 950 Super Enduro
    John Isenburg- KTM 990 Adventure
    Richard Miller- Honda XR650L
    Jason Williams- KTM 990 Adventure

We have had a lot of interest from companies in the industry willing to support our race effort:

    Giant Loop Moto- www.giantloopmoto.com
    Konflict Motorsports & Suspension- www.konflictmotorsports.com
    Renazco Racing- www.renazco.com/
    Tigatu Clothing Company- www.tigatu.com
    Cyclops Advnturesports- www.cyclopsadventuresports.com
    Coastal Instruments Inc.- www.facebook.com/coastalinstruments

Attempting to race the 24 Hours of Starvation Ridge on 500lb + adventure bikes has yet to be done, this will truly test our skills, and possibly our sanity.

The cover photo on your FB page looks like a Blaine Franger shot.

He used to take a lot of Motto races. Just curious.

I remember reading Radek's account of his Boundary Peak ride a few years ago. I learned a few things from it.

    Good luck with the venture.

We are really looking forward to this. 24 hr races are so much fun, adding the Adventure bikes puts it over the top in entertainment value for all of us.

Awesome to hear. I am on the fence as to whether I'll be there. May be leaving town before the race for new job.

If I don't leave before then I'm heading over to the race.

Good Luck guys and hopefully it will be dryer this year than last. :clap

I've done this race the last two year, the mega rain was a bit much for many. Kootney Rider you planning on racing or team support? I may come just help out were it's needed. (unless there's a mini bike team needing one more rider :D )

Being someone who loves to try something new, I stoked to be a part of this team!

With a team of talented riders, the support of our awesome sponsors and the help of our crew, we fully expect to prove that the big bikes are more than capable of being a serious threat for the podium.

    Bring it on!

The Heavyweights just received the first shipment of support product from our friends over at Giant Loop Moto.
We will be utilizing the GL Bushwhacker Hand Guards and the Pronghorn straps to keep them in place.
We will also be utilizing the MoJavi saddlebag system holding our tools and needed spares. Nothing's better than getting gear off your body.
Thanks again to www.giantloopmoto.com, and Harold Olaf Cecil!!

New to me, but after talking with you last night, I am now very interested. I've never raced before, but that doesn't I wouldn't try it on the 1200, Maybe next year. Good luck fellas, no torn off skid plates! Do you have enough 12hour energy drinks?

It will be awesome to see the BIG bikes out there:clap. If it stays dry you guys will do great. Last year was my first 24 hour experience. It was very slippery. I will be there again this year, but I won't be riding my big'ish bike(xr650r). Same number as last year 143I, honk as you go sailing by me.

Will we going to see you out there SOP? I have yet to wear the life jacket, hopefully that wont happen this year, fishing a 500 lb bike out of the pond wouldn't be a lot of fun. We'll save the tires of death for you.:eek1
Things are coming together nicely thanks to the help of a few dedicated volunteers.:clap
