I did the same thing to my '02. I replaced the stock orange front fender and rear plastics with black ones from KTM. Various KTM on-line dealers should have the parts easily available, or they can order them for you.
Hi, I just picked up a 2006 640 Adventure off of eBay. 9K mi on the clock and came with Touratech aluminum panniers, a 12 V BMW plug and ralley bar, otherwise bone stock. Paid $7500 between the bike and shipping out here from PA. See attachment for pic.
Hiu Guys! I just wanted to show how my bike looks after I painted it. I chikened out with the white decals, I did them original black. Heres a pic:
You painted it pink ?:huh Whats that exhaust you got on? psst btw oil level is low and the fuel tank sensor is unplugged
No!!! It's Orange! I used a crappy camera though. This double exhaust was made by a shop down here. I'm waiting for a new original ktm exhaust which should arrvive shortly.
What does it take for you KTM guys to get to your spring preload rings on your LC4's? I have a new Husky and discovered you have to take the air box out to access them. BUT, before you do that, you have to take the gas tank off because you need to loosen a hose clamp behind the air box and you can't get to it unless you take the tank off. Yes, you can bang on the rings with a screwdriver and hammer but I did that back in high school and would prefer to use a spanner wrench. DOH!
Figured I had better check in....don't let the name fool 'ya....I am now part of the orange crowd. Here is my new (to me) '07 Adventure that I picked up last fall here on ADVRider to replace my DRZ...all I can say is "WOW"...should have upgraded many years ago! Bike has a few nice extras, including a Renazco seat, Wings exhaust, Fastway pegs, risers, tank/tail bags, etc. I've got a new set of Pirelli MT-21's on order.
Many still use a hammer and some soft metal rod as a drift (screwdriver will probably ding up yer shock collars), some talk about a Motion Pro tool (maybe THIS one), while others say they just use the hook on the axle wrench that KTM gave us in the tool kit... just matters how you access the collars (folks say removing the inner fender allows better access). Of course there are some who say just remove the shock to change the preload, but I find that triggers my lazy bastage nerve when I think of doing it repeatedly...
Are you sure about the model year? The 2000 KTM sticker on tank is like this one. I would say yours is 1999.
Eureka! I did find this picture on the thread by accident. What is the part number for item 3? Neither I nor my dealer could found it from KTMs on-line ordering system. It simply is not listed for 2000 or 2001 bikes.
Isn't that the standard "sheet metal nut"? It's used all over the place... 2003 640a diagram: #3 Item #: 54603048100 RANGE CHANGE METAL NUT M6 Quanity On Diagram: 8 Cost Each: $1.85
Thanks. It may be the standard sheet metal nut, but its not listed for 00 or 01 Adventure at KTMs on-line system. PS. A range change nut? Why the name?
