Welcome to the Tejas and Gulf States regional forum.

Please introduce yourself in the appropriate "BS Thread". That's the best way to
1. meet local riders,
2. find out about upcoming events/rides,
3. ask questions about local riding areas,
4. get assistance with wrenching, etc.
Plus, it cuts down on repetitive threads.

Certain areas also have weekly or monthly ADV events. These may be at restaurants, bars, etc.

Photo tag has become popular on ADV. Each state has one or more threads pertaining to this game.

If you need tires or maintenance advice for your XR, go to Thumpers. If you need info on the TransAmerica Trail, do a search in Ride Reports or check out Trip Planning. Come back when you have specific questions on the OK or AR section of the TAT.

Rallies
There is one "official" ADV Rally for the Tejas Region. It's called SLAP and is typically held in the spring in the Northwest Arkansas Ozark Mountainss. Look for those details in the ADV Annual Rallies section of the site.

Other unofficial rallies may pop up here and there.

We have a great group of riders in MS, from all parts of the State.

Just wanted to drop by and say hello. I've been lurking for a while. I've started to post a little bit. I'm based in Austin. I'm prepping for a little trip down south on my DR650. Would love to hear any advice from y'all more experienced riders.

I live in San Angelo, TX. I may be missing something, but, the 3 BS Threads listed for Tejas seem to be middle to eastern Tejas; Dallas, Austin, Waco, Huntsville, Houston, etc....

The closest one of those towns is over 200 miles away from me. Texas is a BIG state!

How bout we get a BS Thread for those of us in West Texas and the Pan Handle?

San Angelo, Ozona, Sonora, Junction, Ft. Stockton, Abilene, Odessa, Midland, Lubbock, Amarillo, El Paso, etc....

Or maybe it should be broken down into 2 separate BS Threads. West and Panhandle.

The lands of Texas are over 96% privately owned, so I usually go to Big Bend or to New Mexico to ride. I know of a few guys up toward Lubbock and Amarillo, but thats about it.

What do you think?

Ultimately it's up to you Texans how you organize yourselves. If a West texas BS thread exists, I'll gladly post the link here.

Live in Austin, I've been here about 6 mos, looking for some local guys to ride with. Currently riding a KLR 650, been riding a little over 2 years although I'm pushing 40, took me wile to stop listening to my mother. Willing to ride about anything within reason. More of a desination type of rider vs bar to bar. If I wanted to ride bar to bar I'd ride a Harley.

Just fixing up a XR 650 L to dual sport in TX. Anyone got any rides or areas to ride near Galveston?
