garn, where'd I say any such thing.

to jest about a situation is not necessarily to take sides in it.

PS I haven't thought anything was cool since the Summer of Love .....just kidding :lol3

I'm pretty sure the APC one was found again and it looks like this one was lost before the rally started.

I'm almost sure if you try to register it to use on spotwalla it will tell you if it is registered to someone else, at which point you can start tracking them down. The serial number is what it registers to, if it won't register in your name you should get the name already registered to the serial number

Ross lost his on the Murray-Sunset NP. Found out when he got to Renmark. I gave him the position of the last transmission and he was able to back-track 1 hour and find it. One reason to set it to 10 minute transmissions, less track to search.

You might want to switch the spot back on tracking for a while, so that the owner can at least see it has been retrieved, and not go searching back at Poeppels Corner.

    Cheers
    Peter

Just switch it on and send an OK message

Note the serial number from the battery compartment and send an email to customerservice@findmespot.com
I doubt if they will give you the owners details but they should pass on your details to the owner

a little story with the owner.
I rode across the French line to Poeppel Corner then North on the Hay River Track with 6 other bikes and a back up ute, 4 blokes 3 girls riding. Day 1 we pulled up for smoko at Purni bore and noticed our flag on the hilux had destroyed itself (freebie from my local hardware store). a couple pulled up to have smoko a little while after us, noticed our flag and pulled the other halve of the saftey vest out that he was using for a flag and gave to us. thanks mate. Day 2 we pulled up after 20km dont know why, and waited for the ute. The ute pulled up and we noticed fuel dripping from the tray, 44 had a split in the bottom. we unloaded the ute and started to put the fuel in the bikes and jerry cans that we had emptied, 3 groups came passed in 4x4's first group gave us a empty jerry, 2nd group sold us a 20 and 10litre cans, and our friend from yesterday lent us a 20L can until Poeppel which by this time would be empty again. When we arrived at Poeppel we looked in the visitors book to see that they had already passed by, we only knew his first name no way to contact to return the jerry. One of the girls found the spot on the road, I pushed the ok button turned it off until I got home emailed customer service, they notified the owner who rang me tonight, got chatting and worked out it was our friend that had helped us out in the simpson. Thankyou Bob
