I will start with Grossglockner as a travel Mecca for motorcyclists in these places. From the house I can do in one day (not counting the pain in the ass after 600km) but i wanted to see some Tyrol beauties so I finished it in two days.

Start was a little boring, but as soon as I turned off the highway things become much better.

I passed Treviso, Pontebba and climbed on the Pramollo pass
    [IMG]

Weather was fine, maybe a little too warm for my taste.
BTW: Sorry about the lack of motorcycle posing pictures, but until now I did not intend to publish them, and I look at my thumper every day.

But we are still a long way from those days, at least few weekend trips on tarmac, I hope.

Probably now is the right time to introduce myself. I am over 40, family man, love sports and bikes of all kind (even MTB).

I've been driving serious bikes only for four years, and i tried all kinds of them.

But eventually I realized that thumper is the right kind for me. Agility, lightness and raw power. Yes it's hard to drive and it vibrates like a sledgehammer, but i love it.

Edelweiss spitze is the highest pass in this alpine road.

And the down on the other side. I slept at this hotel. Very old, food quality was rather poor, not something i would write home about:puke1.

    Back to Grossglockner.

Next day ,after some Tyrolian sightseeing i went back through tauern tunel
    [IMG]

In Lienz they had a kind of public event. Sun heated as insane and standing in motorcycle equipment in the heat is not something I want to do often.

So, getting to the Carinthia lakes was top priority. But Austrians have a strange habit or hobby of creating as many as possible obsticles to make free acess to the lakes imposible. (jap, english is not my first language). Therefore public facilities are the only way to get wet :huh

Hi Darel! This is a great report! More please:clap I am always envious of rides through the Alps....and was one of your first set of photos a shot of Plitvice Lakes? I was fortunate to see them a few years ago. Looking forward to many more reports from you!!

The weekend is over and another great little trip is behind me. Only two days and 500km long, but to one of the most beautiful places where I travel every year at least once. It is the perfect destination in the late summer with mild mediterranean climate. Kamenjak which is a southern peninsula of Istria is kind of protected area, park of nature. One can be there only at daytime. For motor vehicles, it is necessary to pay a entrance fee. There is a lot of gravel roads to explore and beautiful flora and some flying fauna :becca

As usual I forgot to take pictures of my transportation so this is the only bike centric picture taken before departure
    [IMG]

There is plenty of camps and one of them is close by Kamenjak. I stayed there.

Kamenjak can offer many little gulfs, some densely populated many other nicely deserted.
