Made it back safe. Weather was awesome the whole weekend. Global warming must be real, it was unseasonably warm for this late in October. Haven't had a chance to upload pictures, I have been looking after our new dog to be named soon. Picked her up yesterday afternoon in ATL. Had a great time, and other than a few minor mishaps with the hammock, couldn't ask for a better time. It was great seeing you all! Is it Spring yet?
She's three years old (or so) and temporarily named Lady. We're not digging the name, so we're trying to come up with something better. She is really good natured, and so far has been really good with the kids. Took this picture in the office. We both have to work til 5pm today, so she's hanging out at the office rather than staying at home by herself on her first day...didn't want to freak her out. We're getting her checked out by our vet tomorrow to figure out a minor skin condition she picked up from the previous owner that lived on a golf course. We're hoping it's just a reaction to the lawn chemicals they use on the course...fingers crossed that it's nothing serious. I'll get my pictures up soon.
Great weekend!!!! Thank you Kellie and Wayne for looking after us, you guys are the best. Looking forward to next time.
Had a great time with great people. Thanks for everything! See you in the spring! <a href="http://s625.photobucket.com/albums/tt338/parts_for_sale/?action=view&current=Untitled_Panoramasmall.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/p/parts_for_sale_Untitled_Panoramasmall.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
On Saturday Jenny (Boojum's lady) and I hiked to this waterfall: The fall colors were lovely and we had a wonderful afternoon. On the way back to Tellico Plains for lunch we passed a bunch of ADVers at one of the scenic lookouts. We doubled back and took in the view. Thanks, all, for a wonderful weekend! Thanks especially to our camp hosts Wayne and Kellie, who made sure no need went unmet. Your hospitality was much appreciated. Cheers! --Megan and Kenda the Wonder Dog
Kellie and I want to thank you all for staying with us this past weekend. We really enjoyed having you here. You have a great group and the place was not the same once you all left. Glad everyone made it home safe. Thanks also for letting me tag along on the Saturday ride. I had a blast!
Hello from Michigan! We had a blast this weekend, and can't wait to get back down to TN for another rally. Lots of fun people, and lots of great rides. Ride safe! - Jon
I had a good reply started, and my computer ate it. Anyway, home safe and sound before dark tonight. I'll post up the pics and comments tomorrow. The short version: It was GREAT!!!
OK, let's try this again... A few random shots. Now, that red one, "The Canvas Castle" is quite the rental tent. And quite the bargain!. Camera shootout. Just like in Old West, I made sure to have the sun at my back. Home sweet home - I'm beginning to get spoiled by cabin camping. Todd rolled in Saturday morning and led me up and over Starr Mountain. Excellent ride! The target. The FS roads. At the top. View from the top. Obligatory shot at Reliance as we headed out Childers Creek Rd. Todd leading the way . I had a hard time keeping up with Todd on the little XT. And lastly, Mike pulling out on Sunday morning. Five days in the saddle counting Saturday's ride. 1415 miles. And fun meter off the scale.
On to day Two. Great breakfast by the gals at B & B ! Rides were planned and executed, some wanted dirt, we did pavement. Dirt riders leaving. Overlook on the Cherohala. Back down the hill to the campground for refreshments. Time for a hearty dinner. Time to get a fire going. Now to light it in one easy step...gasoline & Castrol 10w40 special elixir by Todd. P.S. Don't forget to toss on an old chair killed by one member of our group during dinner. Finally ! And a good night was had by all. Mike
Nom... Nom... Nom... Although it is hard to tell, Pops had a blast! Kenda The Wonder Dog makes a great co-pilot & lap dog. The treats she got a hold of must have helped (lap dog part)! Many thanks to Minimike for the outstanding door prizes and his support over the past many years! Winning is a big plus... And many thanks to Kellie and Wayne for hosting our fine band of degenerates and thanks to the gals from B&B for feeding the horde! Your hospitality was outstanding and the food was great! Looking forward to our next visit! 2012 Fall Old's Cool Fall Rally - Tellico Plains, TN
Nice pics! What is going on in the left of the frame & why does Doc appear somewhat concerned while workerant appears oblivious???
There was group of "locals" over there taking pictures. One of the group sounded just like Carl from Sling Blade. Mmmmmmm Hmmmnnnn Mike
Both 'parents' had cigarettes hanging out of their mouths in close proximity with their kids which made my stomach turn. I was expecting the cigarette to catch the kid in the side of the face while she was learning to use the camera. Dad was carrying a two year old with a butt burning right in the kid's face. Stupidity breeding stupidity...mmmmmm hmmmmmm. Edit: I have nothing against smoking...
Not too many pictures this time around...I probably took more pictures with Mike's camera than mine (as well as screwing up his settings...)
You should smell some of the kids in my elementary school! Some smell like they have spent the night in a bar. When we open the doors for them at car duty clouds of smoke (all kinds) roll out of the car.
