How many of ou guys are wearing leather on the street? I have been wearing a combo of textile both jackets and 1 pc suit depending on the weather. Thinking about making the plunge and getting a 2 pc suit. Looking at more of a touring type outfit and have no interest in looking like a GP wanna-be. How is the comfort in Spring & Fall rides. Probably would get put aside in the hottest Summer months for the vented textile gear. I was looking at these..... i have perforated and regular leather suits... don't wear them much anymore, but can't bring myself to sell them.... like a second skin... feels very protective on... the perf got a lot more wear than the regular suit except when the temps dropped to the 40s-60s... 2 piece is a good idea... make sure to try them on... it is heavy material and uncomfortable when the fit is poor
You get a lot of suits combining textile and leather in the most exposed areas. I love the safety feeling of leather but it do get hot in summer (though, perforated helps a lot!). Like this: http://www.revit.eu/en/#/products/FJL033 If no chance of rain and not too hot I prefer all leather, still safest (ever seen motogp guys in textile?).
I use leather when i know what the conditions will be. Meaning if I'm taking an over nighter and we are in blue sky weather. When it's a longer trip I wear textile, rain resistant and vented.
im a long time street guy. I prefer leather over textile most of the time .I own lots of both . Actually I like perfed leather better on a hot day . To me ,nothing feels worse than textile against your skin when its hot. I carry a rainsuit big enough to easily go over the leather if need be, Of course leather is also better for protecting your body in a crash . Just look to the racers .If there was something better they'd be using it.
Much more comfortable than textile and a lot warmer as well. I have the Firstgear Sportstourer Overpants. Same siliconized leather. Also have the matching Baron Jacket. I can easily wear this stuff up to about 70, comfortably. And I have left on late fall trips with temps in the single didgits...heated Gerbings under the coat. I actually had the suit for sale here about a month or 2 ago. I've worn it a couple of times in the last month so I am re-thinking it. It's great stuff. Oh, and the jacket ? It weighs in at a healthy 11 lbs with liner !
For short trips I wear leather but for long trips I wear Textile. I've worn leather's most of my life and I'm a recent convert to textile, leather can either be to hot, to cold and when it gets wet it's just uncomfortable. My man riding jacket is a Firstgear Kilimnajaro, keeps me dry, warm, works ok in the heat and lots of pockets. I also wear Fristgear overpants, I've never owned leather pants, chaps yes; but I wouldn't wear either one now I don't think it would look good on me I'll stick with my mesh overpants. If I get some extra spending money I would really like to try a Belstaff Jacket. I love the look of a leather jacket but for me it's not versatile enough for any long distance rides, if it's a short ride in ideal conditions then I like it alot. Protection wise I still leather will hold up better than textile, but I have no data to support it. One jacket will never be enough, it's like camera bags. Added I guess I wont be looking at Belstaff it's not the same as it used to be, unless I can find an original one.
