Lauren, where do I look to find racks to mount luggage
on my 100GS? Beemer dealer, or? Thought you might
    know. TIA

I would sell you mine if I didn't need them for a while longer. As soon as I get a job I will probably get some Jesses and then I won't need my racks anymore. You could probably ask on either the GS or Airhead lists (or I could for you) for a used set, or try Recycle (sp?) or Parts Haus. A Beemer dealer would surely be able to get you a new set, but most used sets would be fine.

Mine are slightly bent and one joint was broken, but we brazed it back together - the crash tweaked it a bit. If you buy a used set and can examine them before buying, look at the joints for cracks and poor weld jobs - many people assume they are welded, but they are brazed, and they could easily screw up the joint by not properly preparing the joint before welding it (they should instead braze it).

Here is a picture of my Nighthawk on the side of one of my favorite quick getaway roads.

(I hope I did it right).

I know you didn't ask, but the GS shot was taken
on a forest road off 4 in the Sierra Nevadas.

That's good, I have enough problems with chicks chasing after me, I don't need guys lusting after me too. [IMG]

Wish I did - I could use a larger tank. I was thinking about getting a larger tank, but on an impulse I got this instead:

While the picture of the GS is not especially noteworthy, thought I'd share this pic because just about every tree you see (close and far away) in this photo was consumed by the 137,000 acre Hayman Fire (still burning but contained) in the Pike National Forest. Pikes Peak is about 50 miles to the SE. Had lunch on the log to the right. Not a single vehicle passed during lunch. Saw fringe portions of the burn area two nights ago on a ride. Moonscape with black tree sticks. Hope to take the GS in the fire area when the main roads are opened up. While forest fires naturally occur, kinda sad to know this one was human started, claimed 133 homes, and the forest will not return to the way it looked in this photo during our lifetime.

Fish, I believe I took a picture at that very same location, except I was aiming more to the right and I left my GS out of the picture. Beautiful country, that Escalante.
