funny thing happened tonight. I went to start the beast to further diagnose the "cough" I experienced while riding it home. I turned the key and the lights etc. flicked on for a second but then nothing. No start. Bad battery, damn! Got to wiggling the terminals that I thought were tight and sonnaofbitch one was just BARELY wiggly. So I held it while turning the key and the bike fired right up. I'm hoping that the "carb problem" I was experiencing on the ride home was nothing more than a loose battery connection vibrating on/off while I rode. I've got my fingers crossed ... :D

That motor is super clean. Hardly any wear on the side cases. It has a Mikuni TM40 pumper carb (supposed to be the best aftermarked carb you can get. Don't know anything about tuning that one but we'll get that Pig fired up.

I am such a fan of working midnights, having a 24hour walmart around..and having my wife work an opposite shift in the same building. It makes these chick holidays so much easier to deal with... 15 minutes of shopping (because I stopped to look at the 70 inch led TVs), sign the card, drop it and the flowers off on her desk. BANG ! DONE ! I'm good for another year! :clap
Success is measured in the fact that IF you can make her feel guilty because she didn't get you enough cheap, useless crap then you win!....and that translates into motorcycles and parts down the road...

    Wait, what?!?! 70 inches?

If sequestration doesn't happen, it's definitely time for a shopping trip. :evil

We got some 80s for work instead of projectors. They are pretty sweet but way to big for my living room.

Yup, that was me. Had lunch at Jebs after a PDW (MSF/VRTP continuing education), then headed home to beat the weather.

Snow, rain, and sleet, all on the commute home from work. Miserable riding.

couple of hours before the snow started. It ran great with fully tightened battery connections on a new battery but still carb-farted a couple of times. It's definitely running slightly lean because the farts stopped completely when I engaged the choke a tad while riding. Of course it was like 38 degrees out too so that may be a factor.
I gotta tell ya this bike is FUN. It handles better than I thought it would and it's actually hard to ride slow from light to light around town. That low-end grunt really put a grin on my face every time I cracked into it :D.
Getting ready to go out into the cold to install my factory (quieter) pipes now. Restoring a bit of backpressure may help its lean condition too.

    Ya'll keep warm today.
