Hey I searched... only found an XT600 thread for the older models and a XT660Z tenere thread.... so i am seriously sorry if repost. Is there noone on here who owns an XT660R or XT660X did you not get those in the states? I should be getting an orange 2007 XT660X tomorrow if all goes to plan The bike in question, swapping a Z1000 for it. Check in to this thread with any pics or info you have!

they are a little heavier than some supermotos and have a little less power than say a ktm, but easy to get another 10 brake ish with exhaust and power commander/filter... changing exhaust save a load of weight too as oem one is very heavy so that makes even more difference. but to be honest its not built as a racing bike, ktms etc that have an extra 15bhp or whatever are built as competition machines, this is a bike made for the road and to be reliable, which is why you see XTs with big miles on them, and there isnt even that much difference between it and a different more powerful 600ish moto, you wouldnt really notice much of a difference unless you were actually racing id say to be honest, i traded a Z1000 with 130bhp at the wheel for my XT660 and i was worried about it feeling slow or missing the power etc, but that was not a problem at all! i jumped straight off the Z onto the XT for a test ride and i was grinning from ear to ear the whole time its a total blast and doesnt feel slow at all, probably because its not lol i was genuinely surprised with how the bike goes, as soon as i got back from test ride i was like right im having this! i remember looking down at the speedo on the test ride and being surprised with the figures i saw this bike can go!! mine is bone stock but exhausts etc are on the way soon!
They were sold in Mexico until 2005, I bought mine 5 months ago, first motorcycle ever, always riding scooters. As far as I can tell, maybe heavy wen standing still, I'm 168 cm tall (5,4") so I have to tip toe on the street...not really a problem... It's pretty maneuverable when in motion, a very easy to read motorcycle...even for a nooby like me... -And the monocilinder roars really swett... _Mine has 60,000 kms. -I have always Known this is not a race byke...I'm not a racer...yet...:huh But It was love at first sight since I sord it by the first time back in 2005...A few miles and years latter I could buy it...Very happy...
Hey Thanks...! _I like Yours...! I spray painted the plastics... The PO gave me a a second kit of plastics cause the byke was always at the sun... (the new kit is blue) _So I paint the sun burned ones in orange... and the fork protectors...nothing to loose... _I also have the original exausts...They are heavy by the way... Take care...!
yeah they are heavy i just ordered a 2 into 1 metal mule system for mine yesterday, cant wait til it arrives!
They were sold in 2005. They're not sold any more, I bought mine (used) 5 months ago...but the PO bought it at 2005. Here in Acapulco Mex.
great to see some of you guys on here! I really thought there would be more people in this post though! Im in Asia with a xt660r im planning on modifying it by fitting T4 cans and opening up the airbox a bit. Theres no dynotune guys here so remapping i guess will be next to impossible. I hope this doesnt make it run rough! I'm only just learning about fuel injected bikes now, so alot of its new to me. I did cut the original 1" round tubes out of the muffler cans, this gave it a meatier sound and didnt affect performance. any input on any home modifications / improvements will be greatfully appreciated!
