How many of you folks have ever ridden the TAT on a Segway? Thinking about leaving in a few days. Still working out how to carry my Honda generator and extra gas to charge it at night.

There is a DVD on Netflix about a cross country trip on a Segway. I haven't seen it yet, but it is in my que.

Which Segway do you have, the one with off road tires? I have been off road on a Segway a little bit during a tour in Colorado. They are fun machines.

I think if you mounted your gear low, near the center of mass, the computer should still be able to deal with it easily.

If you are indeed leaving in a few days ,I would be more concerned with how it would handle snow and ice then sand

There will be some places in New Mexico, and certainly Colorado, where you will have to carry that thing. You might want to reconsider and use an electric bike instead.

Well it's been a few days and I haven't seen a ride report or any info here on the start of the Segtat Quest. Me thinks more talk and certainly no walk, or is it no lean?

I jumped a Segway once during a tour.

We were in Copenhagen, and had to get around an old building. The dirt path went up to a lip at the end of a concrete walkway. Just as the tour guide was about to tell us to go around, I went full bore at it and launched off the lip, up onto the walkway. He said there is always someone who tries that, but most crash. The key was hitting it with enough speed to clear the edge in one smooth motion.
