    Hi Folks.

I'm a newby Old Guy from Erie who rides the ANF dirt roads out of our camp near Kane. I'd love to hook up and share some rides next season, but strictly dirt. I only use pavement to get to the next dirt.

If you folks don't already know, the ANF opens the gates on a lot of roads from 9-24 through 1-16 every year for hunter access.

The ANF also puts out sort of outdated, but useful maps showing most of the forest roads. They are available at ANF offices, but I imagine they will send you one.

BTW, I found this site looking for info on my bike and I LOVE IT. Thanks to everyone for sharing their hard earned knowledge.

My brother & I discovered this, by accident, when we were up there last year. We rode up on Sat. & did the ANF Sun. So we didn't have to worry about hunters.

HairBear, I noticed the one picture of you guys riding past the Air National Guard Base. Do you work out there?

Also, we've started a couple SW PA / Pittsburgh area rider's thread to gin up some interest in doing local rides. Seems like a lot of riders around the area, but few get together. Anyway, check in the Regional riders forum. We've posted the last few days. Hopefully more rides will be posted and more of us can meet up. Cheers.

Nice ride, Hairbear. You missed a cool ride though. Rt 949 goes from Sigel Pa south of Cooksburg on Rt 36 to Belltown along the Clarion river. There is an awesome turn just past Clear Creek State Park (nice cabins too) and from Belltown you can ride the river road paralleling the Clarion River all the way back downriver to Cooksburg. The river road is busy during the summer, but beautiful during the rest of the year.

Count me in for next year, my last trip to the ANF was mid-Sept. I purchase a pass every year and plan on doing the same for 2014.

I graduated in 87,, I wrecked my truck on whitmer rd on a really bad foggy night back in 89? Don't know if they ever fixed that road but it wasn't more than a one lane-ish with 90 degree turns with massive oaks everywhere. Got personal with one of them. Lucky for me I was only doing like 20-25 or I would have died.. but that speed in a 68 chevy truck staring into a 3' diam oak is still a eye opening experience.
I grew up over on Davis Grove a couple houses in from the moon tavern end.
