Baja Tiger 800 XC build

Here's a brief overview of what we have going next year with Triumph North America we are taking a Tiger 800xc Adventure and entering both the NORRA Baja Mexican 1000 Rally, and the Alcan 5000. This is an exciting and unusual project as the bike we are using is a semi dirt bike. With the growing interest in the adventure side of the business, and our personal passion for these types of events, it's a good time to take a machine that your average rider is aware of and do something extraordinary with it. We're very excited to have solid partners in the venture, with Triumph Motors, GE Capital, Motoworks Chicago, along with a great group of riders on board. We know what it takes to get it from California to Cabo San Lucas Mexico then all the way to Prudhoe Bay Alaska

<o>Here we are out on the first day after picking up the brand new Tiger 800 xc</o>
<o>this is a bone stock bike with 8 miles on the speedo!</o>

<o>I installed a new set of Pirelli Scorpion Rally tires a 150/70/17 rear and a 90/90/21 front the very next day. ( I will be lacing up a tub-less 18' rear and I will use Dunlop 908 Rally Raid tires for the events)</o>

<o>I received a few goodies to play with so the testing begins:</o>

<o>OEM tall wind screen and I installed a set of 12 deg Flex Bars</o>

<o>I will be sending off two sets of hubs two Woody's to have him build them using Excell rims and his signature Super Lace set up.</o>

Triumph is great with their promotions! The Triumph Icon Youtube video is phenomenal, and I'm sure there will be some great photos and video from this as well. Be safe, and we look forward to what you guys do with the Tiger!

He's now in house at Triumph, and it looks like he will be producing a similar video telling the story of our adventures.<o></o>

First thing we are going to work on the stock units so the everyday
Tiger owner can improve his ride at a reasonable cost.


Then on the Baja Tiger race bike we may have a Ohlins rear shock
that will be installed.



We are waiting to possible get a set of Ohlins Forks.


If the Ohlins forks don't pan out we may see what we can pull from another
bike and make work in the OEM 45 mm Showa forks

Though.......would it not be in EVERYONE'S interest to convince Triumph to build a Tiger Cub 530 twin instead?

This is an absolutely AWESOME IDEA. I saw one of those bikes at the Indianapolis Bike Show and folks went gaga over it when they realized it was the actual bike used in filming. I can't wait to see what they come up with. There aren't many times when folks are marketing to me, and I actually like it!

maybe you should cut off those rear passenger pegs before you dump it and trash the frame.

Out of curiosity... going to use a different Excel front rim than the one that's already on the bike? Or just relace the existing one?

I will be using different Excel rims along with Woody's spoke and nipple kit.

We are lacing up 2-18" rear and 2- 21" front wheels
that way I have a stock set of 17"& 21"

Rally-Raid Products has came on board with the development of the Triumph Baja Tiger 800XC.

That makes a lot of sense. Will you use another rim identical to the stock front, or something narrower/lighter/different in some other way?

Sorry for grilling you, I'm just very curious because I would love to put together a set of dirt wheels for my Tiger. So I'll be watching what you do with great interest.
